I am a professional nail technician working for the number one day spa in the state. I am also a singer/actress/writer and I paint for my own enjoyment and entertainment. I am newly married and enjoy cooking and baking for my friends and family!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! I am BIG on sweets, but then again, what girl isn't my age? I love grilling too... I generally just enjoy the creation process and I hope to become even better at it! I have gotten better and better, and am finding myself wanting to cook more often, even when I am dead tired... I love creating meals...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas with my mom.... it's panic, it's crazy, but I love it! It's fun!
My cooking triumphs
My husband John is a picky eater. I really believe that he has a polaroid picture of what every dish he's familiar with should look like, and if it looks different in any way he's thrown off completely. I have gotten to know his tastes enough that I can predict what he likes, and won't like, and with help from allrecipes.com he has not turned his nose up at one thing I have made him! He's interested in trying new dishes now, where before he wouldn't have even dreamt of it. So I am taking the credit for being able to crack his shell and bring him into the 21st century of food!
My cooking tragedies
I was combining two recipes that I found on this site, and it was a chicken dish, calling for me to flour and then fry the chicken breasts to brown the flour and then covering them in cheese and cooking it in the oven. I was zooming about talking to my husband about my day, and I wasn't really paying attention as I collected the ingredients. About my third chicken breast in- I realized I hadn't pulled out the flour at all... but the powdered sugar! We laughed ourselves silly, and he still teases me about it... but I rinsed the chicken and got out the REAL flour, and dinner was a success!!! I still make that recipe and think of the powdered sugar every time I do!!!
