Garden Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
I used Romano cheese and bottled Italian salad dressing, adding enough dressing to season until I was leaving for get together and then added more, as it had all been soaked up by pasta, and carried in a large zip loc bag. The cheese adds a salty flavor so be careful if you season. I cut grape tomatoes in half and also added broccoli florets and black olives to other veggies. Quick and easy. Loved it.

Buttery Cranberry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
Very good. I used filling as a cobbler instead of a pie. I made 2 cobblers (doubled the filling recipe). One was as recipe indicates and other I added sliced apples (2 apples). Family and friends enjoyed both. I will definitely make again.

Apricot Nectar Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
I was looking for a recipe to use some dried apricots that I had. I boiled them and then pureed them with the boiling liquid and that is what I used in place of the "nectar". I also added 1/4 cup of water to the mix. Easy recipe. Took to work. Everyone like the cake.

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
Excellent cobbler! I had 3 different kinds of berries in my freezer that I was trying to figure out how to use and this was it. Absolutely delicious! I can see using many different types of fruit for this cobbler. I was a little put off when I read the recipe and saw that I had to roll out a dough but it was very easy dough to work with and I was done in a jif. I followed the recipe as is (except for using different berries) and thought it was perfect. Can't wait to try apples. Hopefully, someday (when I have some!), my own grandchildren will remember "MY" cobbler. Thanks for the recipe!

I did add more peppers than called for but we lot more heat (spice). I will add a little less water the next time to make it a little thicker. Good combo of ingreds for a nice flavor. Thanks for the submission.

Authentic Mexican Hot Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
This is pretty good sauce. It was easy to make. I didn't have the guajillo chile so I subbed a chipotle. It gave it a nice smoky flavor. I just read that you suggested an arbol chile for heat. I have those. I will have to make again to try with the arbols. Interesting sauce. Would like it a little thicker though. Going to play with the recipe now that I've tried it the way you posted it. Thanks for a nice hot sauce recipe.

Cantaloupe Bread with Praline Glaze

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
Hmmm...not sure about the flavor...yet. It's not that I don't like it but I'm not sure if I do either. Putting some butter on a slice, it was good. I think it needs more spice to it or be sweeter..not sure. I'll tweek the recipe the next time and spice it up a bit to my likings. It IS a very moist bread. I will definitely try again because it seems that, like bananas, I always have some cantaloupe that I need to use up every now and then and this is such a good idea. Thanks for posting the recipe.

Cumin and Coriander Chickpea Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
This recipe is very similar to what my friend from India makes. She doesn't use a recipe and just throws things in a bowl so it is hard for me to get recipes from her. I did use both red and yellow peppers (for added color) and halved the recipe but other than that I followed the recipe to a "T". My friend also makes this same recipe using canned corn in place of the chickpeas. She always has something interesting and new and I always look forward to eating at her house! Thanks for the recipe! I will definitely make again and again.

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
Absolutely delicious! I frosted the "bars" (more like a snack cake) with the "Cream Cheese Frosting II" recipe on this site after they were completely cool. Wow! It was perfect. These were not real sweet and neither was the frosting. Very moist with the addition of the sour cream. I will definitely make this again and again. EVERYONE at work loved them!

Delicious! For someone (like me) who doesn't like icky-sweet frosting/icings, this was perfect! Used it to frost the "Frosted Banana Bars" recipe on this site. EVERYONE at work loved it! (I halved the recipe for what I was making and it was just enough)

Red Apple Martini

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
Out of all 3 jugs of martini's I set out at my party this one was the most popular. We call it a Washington Apple. The whiskey that you use makes a difference. You MUST use Crown Royal for the whiskey. Delicious!

Strawberry Cheesecake Martini

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
Made a jug of this at my party and set out with ice and glasses on the side. Yup, tastes just like strawberry cheesecake. I had 3 jugs of different martini's and this one was the least popular as it is a bit on the sweet side. Had to keep the teenagers away from it. :)

Miss Betty's Super Quick Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
THE BEST "Super Quick" dinner rolls that I have ever made! So easy and so fast! I will use this recipe again and again! I don't stock self rising flour in my pantry so I did use the substitute recommended on this site of 7/8 c. flour, 1 1/2 t. baking powder & 1/2 t. salt. Mine puffed up real nice! Thanks for the recipe!

Creamy Deviled Eggs

The flavor is good. The amount of filling per egg is plentiful. My kids, however, do not like the "things" in it. Next time I will leave out the onion & pickle so that there will be no "things" in it. LOL

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
Perfect the way it is written! I've made this cake twice now (and will make another one on Sunday). Due to being pressed for time yesterday, I skipped putting the cake into the freezer and left it on my counter to cool while I went off to work for the day and it was still a pretty darned moist cake. Took the cake to work today and got lots of compliments. Frosting is delish and not too sweet...I could eat it by the spoonful! Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Big Smokey Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
These are wonderful tasting burgers! This is the 3rd time that I've used this recipe. The 2nd time I used ground turkey breast instead of beef. It was drier but still very good flavor. I've also combined all of the ingredients (except the beef) in a bowl and made a paste like out of it and rubbed it on some fish that I was going to saute. It too was pretty darned good! The smokiness and heat of the chipotles combined with the liquid smoke is quite a tasty combo. I really like your recipe. Thanks! I would have never thought of this on my own!

Crunchy Bagel Chips

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
I made 3 different batches. First batch I made was as recipe stated which gets the above rating. 2nd batch I added olive oil and onion powder to the recipe. Very good. I also had some leftover cinnamon raisin bagels that instead of the savory seasoning I added sugar and cinnamon to the butter. Yum! Oh yea and a 4th batch that I made (for me who is watching my calories) I sprayed with zero calorie butter spray and sprinkled with garlic salt. Not as good as the original but it will do. :)
