About this Cook
First of all I have to say, I LOVE this website and give a big thank you to all who have contributed recipes that have become household favorites! I lead a happy yet busy life with my husband, stepson, and toy poodle Mr. Beau Jangles (who is quite the food critic). I work in the apparel industry and enjoy being creative, traveling, and eating interesting foods.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking in general. I mostly come to this site for main courses and deserts. I'm not easily drawn to the "quick and easy" recipes. I don't mind putting forth a bit of effort for a great home cooked meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanks to the "All Day Apple Butter" recipe my family has adopted a new family tradition. We go out to the orchard and pick fresh apples and then my mom, sister, and I get together with our crock pots full of apple butter and enjoy and evening of canning. We embellished the jars with Christmas fabric, ribbon and jingle bells and they made fantastic gifts! I got RAVE reviews!
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say, hosting Christmas Eve dinner for 10! The turkey was a little dry but the sides and desert were yum-cious!
My cooking tragedies
I just can't seam to cook meat! Unless I cook it in the crock pot it turns into something I would recommend using for sports like hockey or maybe a paper weight more than for eating...

Baby Back Ribs
sooooo good! I didn't make nearly enough. But when I make this for my family at the beach this summer I'll be sure to have lots and lots!

Buttermilk Pancakes II
I made these for mothers day brunch and they were such a hit! Note: I added the melted butter to the mixture with the buttermilk and because the buttermilk was so cold, the butter became solid again and created little chunks in the batter. I panicked a bit but went with it. If this happens to you, don't worry, keep rollin and they will turn out fab! The next time I host a breakfast or lunch I'll make these for sure!
