Spaghetti Sauce II

This was great. I used fresh oregano from my garden and bulk sausage made into meatballs. My kids & hubby loved it. Next time I'll triple the batch and freeze it for a busy night.

These turned out very good. However, my batch was 7 pints and tripled the brine...too much - a double batch would have been just right. Also, I rinsed VERY thoroughly and the cukes still tasted really salty, but don't worry, they won't when they are done. Very time consuming to make, but worth it.

Fresh Dill Pasta Salad

I used fresh everything from my greenhouse (dill, cukes, tomatoes, onions) and made this for an annual BBQ at my home. FANTASTIC flavor. I used LOTS of bigger shrimp instead of canned ones. Also, the amount of dressing was perfect for a batch and a half (my box of pasta was 13oz).

Blueberry Buckle

Brought this to work and was gone instantly. Family loved it too. Don't overbake or it will dry out, and remember to add some pecans or walnuts to the topping for extra flavor and crunchiness. YUM!!!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

This is the first time I've ever made scones. I needed something to take to work for an early meeting and had everything on hand for these. I replaced the raisins with craisins and sliced almonds, added a couple drops of almond extract, and sprinkled course sugar on top before baking. These were gone within 30 minutes!!! I got compliments all day long and many asked when I was going to bring them again. What a great recipe!!!!! A definite keeper and I'm sure I'll make them many times over.

Farmhouse Chicken

This was pretty good. I made a batch and a half to feed a group of Boy Scouts at a pot luck last night and I brought home a clean pan. It's good for a gathering like that, but I don't think I'd make it for dinner for just my family. Maybe after Thanksgiving with home-made dressing??? That sounds much better.

Grilled Salmon I

My family and friends loved this recipe, but I didn't think much of it. I thought it was very boring in taste and I even marinated the fillets for nine hours. I added garlic and fresh green onion from my garden to jazz it up, but it was still bland (at least in my opinion). I'll stick to Yoshita's Gourmet Sauce for teriyaki flavor from now on.

Belles Hamburger Buns

Five stars for easiness, but only three for flavor. I thought they were okay - a bit too dense for me. I think they raised too fast and that's why they didn't have a fluffiness to them.

Grilled Whole Turkey

I personnally would only give this three stars, but everyone loved it. It smelled great and was very easy to prepare, but I didn't think it had much flavor. However, what little leftovers there were, they were better the next day.

Creamy Spiced Coleslaw

This one is a definite keeper. I used half Miralcle Whip and half mayo, but next time will use only MW for more zestiness. I also diced some onion very fine and added that as well (had to make it more like mom's). Our guests thought I should market it and I'd be rich. I won't do that, but I will surely make it again and again. Thanks!

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

I'm giving this only three stars because I didn't care for it. However, my guests raved about it and they all asked for the recipe. They gave it five stars, but I prefer to taste the asparagus, and not all the seasoning.

Honey Mustard Salad Dressing

I would give this 10 stars if I could. It's absolutely delishious!!! Fine restaurant quality, but you can't use regular mustard (gross)...you MUST use a good Dijon for this one. A DEFINITE keeper.

Spinach Cheese Ball

Very disappointing. I like the recipe on the Knorr soup mix package and the traditional spinach dip much better. This was too firm and didn't go over well with my guests. I had lots left over and ended up throwing it away.

Chicken Supreme III

This was pretty good, but way too much butter, and I LOVE butter. Next time I'll reduce it 1/4 cup. I'm giving this 5 stars because my kids loved it. My husband and I thought is was ok, but when my picky eaters don't complain, it makes it all worth it.

BBQ Dry Rub

This was great! It makes a lot and keeps well in a sealed containter. I made it for babybacks but had so much leftover that I tried it on steak. I grilled it and it came out fantastic. I don't think it tenderizes the meat but sure gives it a sweet/salty flavor. A keeper that I'll use often. I think I'll try it on the fresh salmon my hubby caught this morning. :-]

Cinnamon Coffee Cake II

So moist and full of flavor. I put some of the sugar mixture on the bottom of the bundt pan so there would be some on top when you invert onto a plate. Very easy to make with simple ingredients that are usually already in the pantry.

Potato and Cheese Frittata

Very good! The potatoes are much better if you use leftover baked from the night before. Also, try beating the egg yolks and whites separately (beating the whites until they form soft peaks)...then mix the two together until combined. The eggs get really fluffy that way (a trick I learned from a chef I used to work with at a fine restaurant). Good luck!

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

I used 1/4 c. cornstarch and 1/4 c. flour and it still tasted like paste. I'll stick to the Betty Crocker vanillla pudding recipe and add coconut to it. It's still the best around.
