About this Cook
I am married, 24 year old who loves to cook. I have a husband and two dogs. I like trying out new recipes and I really enjoy making things that other people might buy> i have a garden this year and am looking forward to cooking with the fresh ingredients!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom didn't cook too much, but my Pepe (french for grandfather)enjoyed both cooking and gardening. His specialty was crepes, which I also make for my husband instead of pancakes.
My cooking triumphs
I made my own marshmallows last year for christmas. I gave them as gifts with some gourmet hot chocolate. Great for extended family, party favors and co-workers. I saw in on Martha Stewart, and though "I could do that"- and it turns out I can!
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had too many tragedies. I was lucky enough to take two semesters of culinary arts in high school and learned to read a recipe well. I do make a lot of my own bread, and I was feeling quite good at it and I thought I'd change it up and make a rye loaf. I replaced all of the recipe for white bread (flour) with rye and it turned out like clumped kittie litter. It was a crumbly, brown, squishy rock- if you can imagine it.

Granola Bars II
Great base. I cut the sugar to a little under 1 cup. And I substituted butter for shortening and added dried cranberries. I also cooked it for double the time. I used the tip from another where they suggest heating the butter and sugar before adding to recipe to ensure stickiness.
