About this Cook
I have had an interest in cooking since I was a kid, always peering over my Grandmother's shoulder while she created deliciousness. My Dad owned a restaurant and he loved to cook. I enjoy it mainly because I find it to be a good form of meditation, plus, it's very rewarding (for others and for myself!). I often find myself getting lost in my recipe books. I believe that the kitchen is the center of the house and makes a house a home. Good food brings people together and makes the time together more memorable.
My favorite things to cook
I love comfort food (roasts and soups), healthy meals, one pot dishes, baking bars/squares, one bowl cakes. I love to make small bites/appetizers, dips, munchies and enjoy these with company while sipping on wine and sangria. In the summer, I love to grill (esp pizza on the grill). All time favourite food is salad -- all kinds, any kind.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Multi-dish buffet style help yourself meals. Asian!
My cooking triumphs
Grew up Asian and morphed into a skilled Newfoundland cook when I married my Newfie Hubby. Mastered classic Newfoundland grub like: baked beans, pea soup, potato salad/cold plates, and casseroles.
My cooking tragedies
Was never a baker. Don't like sweets at all (my weakness is salt!). Until, one day the crew at work started a Treat Day and threw my name on the list. I guess I learned pretty quick. Gumdrop cake flopped and some other baking tragedy that did not get eaten. I've since pulled up my socks and am a respected Treat Day contributor!

Pizza On The Grill I
I just LOVE this recipe. Followed the recipe exactly except for toppings and subbed in 1 cup of whole wheat flour. It turned out fabulously delish. We have used this recipe serveral times and it never disappoints. Whenever we serve to guests, they always ask for the recipe. This is a summer favourite of ours and we enjoy with red wine or a pitcher of sangria. Thanks for sharing!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan
We really loved the texture and taste of this recipe. I made this recipe using haddock fillets as that is what I had on hand and it turned out great. I did not have any lemon juice and subbed in lemon pepper, left out black pepper, added seasoning salt in place of celery salt, and olive oil instead of butter. I did not flip the fish as my fillets were thin and not sure that this is necesary. Broiled on high only 3 minutes before spreading on the topping and back in oven for another 3 minutes. Perfect and delish! Thanks for sharing.

Nannie's Hot Milk Sponge Cake
A pretty good cake. I like that it is no fat and easy to make. As another previous reviewer, I did reduce sugar down to 1 cup and subbed in almond extract in place of vanilla, just a personal preference. Not too sweet, just the way we like it. Great with our evening coffee and tea. Thanks for sharing!
