About this Cook
I've been married for almost 9 years to a wonderful man. We are both into movies and computers. He's a video gamer and I'm an artist (not professional, just in the blood).
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook Indian dishes, Korma, Curry, beautifully flavored rice. The more I bake the more I like it, as long as things go well. If something isn't successfully I get a bit discouraged, but always go back and try again.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother makes amazing MidWestern hearty foods like meatloaf, ham and gravy, macaroni and cheese. My grandmothers did the same but even better. I was raised with home cooking, nothing out of a box. I'm trying to get back to that by getting away from packaged foods, frozen, processed..and it's been fantastic to learn all the methods, the styles, the fun of cooking from scratch.
My cooking triumphs
Just yesterday I made my first fantastic Chicken Korma that rivaled the restaurant dish I have loved since the first time I ate it. I was so thrilled that it turned out right I'm going to make it again today..if my husband can handle it two days in a row..haha Another triumph would be a few months ago when I finally baked my first pies. A lemon meringue and apple. It might be common for a lot of people, but for me at 40 years old, it was a first and very fun.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make a meat dish for homemade Gyros..disaster!! Once I put together a recipe for Pasta Puttanesca..ugh I'm not sure if I did it wrong or I just really really don't like it..that was my worst curious adventure so far.
