Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccini Noodles

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I made this a couple of times following the recipe to a T (adjusting only for smaller portions). But after trying the similar recipe Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo on this site I've tried seasoning it a little bit more, reducing the butter content, and using the part-skim milk ricotta cheese. I also sauté the chicken with fresh garlic, salt-pepper, and Italian seasoning. It still turns out perfect and never disappoints. This is my favorite Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo recipe - I will never loose it this recipe.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
This is a well seasoned Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo recipe. I really liked it but I didn't love it. When I wanted to have it again I went with the Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccini Noodles recipe. I felt bad for liking something less fancy, especially because there is absolutely nothing wrong with the recipe, it really is great and it deserves 5 stars.

Balsamic Bruschetta

This is how I've always made Bruschetta. Nothing can go wrong with this recipe. Unless you don't use fresh ingredients. Fresh is the key for Bruschetta. Even shred your own cheese.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I had never had, nor had I ever made Beef Stroganoff. I have made this 4x now. The 1st time I made it just like the recipe. It was surprisingly good, so I decided to make it again using the help of reviewers. I followed the suggestions of JILLYBEAN14, with the exception of sautéing the mushrooms and adding sour cream. I put everything in at once in the crock-pot and I served it over al dente egg noodles. It.Was.Fantastic. So good you don't even know, you have to make it! Because I now make it using those suggestions I give it 4 stars.

Bourbon Pecan Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I love this recipe. I first had it when a friend of ours made it but she was really bummed out when it burned some. I personally love anything with a little charred-flavor to it so I LOVED it the way it was. I now let my piece burn a little :). I crave this dish often and make it every other month or so. However I struggle to find what to serve with this dish. It seems incomplete...

This is just what my husband was asking for (a Reuben made w/out corn beef). Thanks for the recipe! He loves it!

Banana Bread V

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I made 2 loafs back-to-back. I like moist dense banana nut bread. Nothing like fluffy regular cake. The 1st batch I made I followed the recipe to a T. The 2nd loaf I made using reviews. I liked the 2nd one better. For this reason alone the recipe gets 4 stars - I'm not trying to make spice cake out of this banana nut bread recipe, but it really needs spices. Even so my husband thought it could be even less "cake-y". Enhancements made: Use real (unsalted) butter. Don't cook longer than 50m. Add 1.5 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla. I used half brown sugar and half white sugar. Walnuts are not optional. I will try using buttermilk next time as a reviewer suggested, that might be fun to try. Maybe even some nutmeg.

Potato Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I've made it 2x. This is a great basic, comfort Potato Soup. Sometimes that's what you want out of a Potato Soup. Not a fusion of flavors - plain can be good! If you want loaded baked potato flavors try the Baked Potato Soup recipe (*****). We really liked this basic recipe. It was nice to use left over mashed potatoes this way. We intended to make the soup with left overs and have it for work lunches. It was so good we had it for dinner.

Parmesan and Basil Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
This is my chicken salad recipe for life! I buy a whole cooked chicken and tear it apart. I served it on sandwich sized croissants as a reviewer suggested and I loved it, loved it, loved it! Thank you for this recipe, I am a fan of chicken salads but most of them always have a little something OFF, something I don't like - this one is perfect the way it is.

Indian Tandoori Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
This recipe was okay - we've made it 4 times now - it keeps getting better but it still doesn't have the taste we've come to know as tandoori chicken (like it's served at our favorite Indian restaurant). This is why I am giving it a 3 star rating. We cooked ours in a clay pot (we can't have a grill in our apt) following AMHEINTZ review, but although it was very moist the problem is the overall texture - wet, like BBQ chicken. We like the dry, and slightly leathery texture that only comes from grilled meat. This is a good recipe, but the taste wasn't as flavorful as expected - so my 3 stars stay.

Chicken Pesto Paninis

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
Wonderful and super easy! I used Italian sliced bread (but not the pepperidgefarm kind) lightly buttered top/bottoms. I used the Classico Basil Pesto and (deli) thinly sliced chicken. I've made this using deli turkey too and it was very good as well. This is a panini staple at our house now. The choice in cheese is perfect!

Fudgy Brownies I

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
This was an eh-OK brownie. I made this just as the instructions called for, except for 2 things: I didn't read carefully and I used hot tap water (steaming hot, but not boiling as it called for), and I baked them for only 30m. Other than those 3 things, I made them just as written. Yet these are NOT fudgy. They turned out like cake. Dry, dense cake. They were not burned-dry, more like crumbly cake-dry. Hope that makes sense. Having said that, they were not BAD - just not as advertised. Also these brownies were very chocolaty, yet only mildly sweet. Again not bad, but it calls for 2 cups of sugar! That's more than enough, yet they didn't turn out sweet?! Last word: If you are looking for dense fudgy, sweet brownies this is not the recipe. But IF you are looking for a recipe that doesn't call for butter (cuz you have none), as I was - this is worth taking a chance on. Unless you are looking for FUDGY brownies :/

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
We loved this recipe! I was dying to have Chicken Tortilla Soup (something like Max & Erma's) without a lot of work and this turned out to be perfect! So delicious! I used about 1.5 lb. of chicken (just my pref). I did not cook it first to save a step and the chicken was fall apart tender. Used the larger sized can (15 ounce?) of enchilada sauce since I had more chicken. Oh, and I used a can of corn instead of frozen. Made the tortilla strips just as directed - they are so easy to make - but I don't ever buy the store bought ones (YUK) so didn't find it inconvenient. Some might, but they should seriously reconsider that.

Sharese's Spaghetti Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I liked it - but I altered this recipe some for cooking ease, and to get the tastes just the way I like - for that I give it 3 stars. It did turn out wonderful, even when I didn't think it would because I came back from the grocery store without some ingredients, and with ingredient substitutions. It's a great recipe to inspire you to make your own.

Surprisingly good! I made this last week and I doubled the recipe and had some for lunch the next day. Husband and I loved it with sandwich bread, lettuce, tomato, a mist of olive oil, and provolone cheese. Use that can of tuna - try this recipe!

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
This was easy and so freakin' delicious! It makes a lot of lemonade too. I used the "Real Lemon" Lemon Juice because I didn't have any lemons. But honestly I'll be making it again the same way. Maybe going as far as buying better, pulpier 100% pure lemon juice. It's just so easy! When I tasted it I found it a bit too sweet. I simply added more ice and it tasted perfect. I like a icy-cold lemonade so making it extra sweet is best anyhow so you don't have a bland water-down drink.
