About this Cook
I grew up in a small town where I met my husband in high school. After I graduated from college with a Computer Science degree, we got married and moved to San Diego, CA. We resided in San Diego for five years and moved to Germany in 2008. We live in Germany as missionaries.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake - anything sweet and often with chocolate :-) I love seafood, but often have friends over who don't. My husband is a big fan of pasta.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother didn't cook much so it's kind of strange that I've picked it up.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime anyone says how much they enjoyed the meal I just spent hours on - I don't mind spending hours in the kitchen and often just fiddle around!
My cooking tragedies
When I added way too much spice and garlic - it was horrible, but my family was very polite and ate it anyway....

Pepper, Onion & Feta Pizza
I changed up the toppings (smoked ham, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms), but kept the marinade. I also made a homemade crust and homemade pesto on top of the crust. It was amazing.

Coconut Syrup
If you leave out the flaked coconut, it has the consistency of syrup. We liked it - it definitely had a different flavor than we had in Hawaii, but it's sweetness complimented the crepes I made very nicely. I think the flavor depends on the type of coconut milk you buy - light or regular fat - as well as the brand.

Coconut Pineapple Chicken
I too used Coconut milk instead of broth and I marinated the chicken in coconut milk before grilling it. It was a good dish that I'd make again. Probably won't work it into my monthly rotation, but it's a nice meal when I have a craving for something tropical.
