I'm creeping towards the big 40, living in Belfast with my husband Les and our three cats! Have always loved cooking and baking...I blame my Gran - although if I could bake like she did, I'd be a happy bunny! I tend to be practical - everyday staples, cheap, wholesome and (trying) to be healthy! But every now and then I like to go mad and do something decadent...usually in the dessert department! I also really enjoy making drinks, punches, liquers and things, especially at Christmas for presents - well it makes a change from a bottle of wine! Where to begin...back with Gran I'm afraid - she was famed in our family for her tatty bread, soda and wheaten farls, drop scones, rhubarb and ginger jam....all good Ulster country cooking! My first attempt, newly married, at vegetable soup...too much soup mix and not enough stock....slice of soup anyone!!!? Thirteen years later, he's still reminding me about it!!
