About this Cook
I'm married with 3 children, 2 grown & married, the last one at home is 16 years old. I love to try out new recipes, but don't get get a chance to do the more involved recipes since I work full time. The weekends are my time to play with recipes, try some complicated ones, and make/freeze dinners for the work week.
My favorite things to cook
Appetizers!! I'm constantly searching appetizer recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving. My Mom used to literally stay up all night getting things done for our big T-Day dinner. One of my sisters & I have long since taken over the cooking for T-Day, but Mom started our tradition. We usually have my siblings, their kids & spouses, a few parents-in-law, parents-in-law siblings gather round the table every Thanksgiving. We're exhausted by the end of the day cooking for 20-26 people, but we love it.
My cooking triumphs
Baking bread. I'm not a baker (at all!) but I tried my hand at baking bread & have had great successes.
My cooking tragedies
Hah! Lots! My problem is I love to try new recipes BUT don't have time to "test" them before I serve to guests. Soooooo, some things work & some don't. I'm ok with that though, I usually make plenty of other stuff so no one goes away hungry!

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds
These were really good! I did double all ingredients except for the pumpkin seeds, and added some Hot Salt. My seeds must have had a lot of moisture in them too, I had to bake them for 2 hours for them to be crunchy. All in all, everyone loved them!

Butter Cream Frosting II
I used butter for the margarine & butter flavor Crisco for the shortening. This frosting was soooo good. Funny thing is I really don't like buttercream frosting - Till Now. No more store bought frosting for me. Thanks for the great recipe!

Rebecca's Rockin' Vodka Lemonade
Delish! I couldn't find the frozen raspberry lemonade either, but my grocery store had raspberry lemonade (non-concentrate) in the OJ area so I used that. Will definitely make this again!
