I didn't have any sweetened condensed milk, so I made it without, and it was great.

Five Minute Ice Cream

Reviewed: May 28, 2009
There are very few OMG recipes, and this is one of them. I did this recipe three ways 1)with cream just as the recipe calls for, 2) with milk instead of cream, and 3) only with the berries partially melted. All three were fabulous, and we may have liked the one with only the berries and the one with milk the best. It actually tastes more like sorbet. I was also surprised how well it scooped after being stored in the freezer. Thanks for the wonderful recipe.

Phyllo Chicken Packets

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
This was fabulous. My husband and son thought it tasted excellent also... very gourmet. I made it exactly as the recipe calls for, except used finely chopped cooking onions (what I had on hand)instead of green onions, and added a couple of tablespoons of chopped fresh spinach inside of each packet for color.

Great recipe. I used fresh herbs, northern beans instead of pinto, and left out the mushrooms. Otherwise, followed the recipe exactly. Yummo.

Fresh Apple Cake II

Great recipe. Similar to a carrot cake. I used all brown sugar, and added 1/2 t. fresh grated ginger. Frosted it with Cream Cheese Frosting with minced candied ginger and rum added to it. Yum Yum Yummy. Should be able to rate this above a 5.

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
The flavor of this dish was okay, but it was my opinion that cooking the peppers in the slow cooker made them too soft. Maybe my expections were too high, as I was expecting more of a traditional chinese flavor.

Denise's Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This is an excellent recipe. Made this per the recipe, except left out cilantro, as we didn't have any on hand. The sauce was perfect and would be a good all purpose sauce for other chinese dishes. You could make minor adjustments such as substituting beef broth if you're making a beef dish. After the cooking was completed, I added ~ 1/4 c. peanut butter per some of the other reviews. It gave it a richer peanutty taste, but I actually think we preferred it without the peanut butter.

Fresh Tomato Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
This recipe is out of this world. I did make one major modification, which was to turn this into a pizza using a pre-grilled pizza crust (made by grilling on low - pizza dough brushed with olive oil & sprinkled with garlic powder); then broiling in the oven to finish cooking. Even though I changed the purpose of this recipe, I am still rating this a 5, because everyone needs to know how wonderful the filling in this recipe is, and how well the flavors blend. I'm certain the recipe with the pastry crust would be just as fabulous.

Great recipe. I didn't add the soy sauce, and I didn't measure the milk. I just poured it in from the carton to get just the right consistency.

Emerald Green Risotto

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
Great recipe. I followed the recipe exactly, except omitted the broccoli. I would recommend partially precooking fresh green beans. Even though I added them with the first broth addition, they weren't done with the rice and other vegetables. I had to add more water and cover at the end to get them tender / crisp. This adjustment worked, and the taste was great. The feta went very well. A good way to use the summer vegetables.

Excellent. I also added 2 t. onion powder per another reader's suggestion. I didn't have the instant coffee, so I made it without it. I think it needed it to make it a bit darker. Tasted great.

I was looking for a recipe to use our extra radishes from our garden in. Found this, and made it to serve with tacos. Ommitted the pepper, as we didn't have one on hand. Still great. This is such a good recipe. Thanks Marzetti.

Bumbleberry Pie II

5+++. Excellent pie & crust recipe. I used the crust recipe as is - perfect & very forgivable. Like the other reviewers, I made substitutions using what I had on hand ~ 12 cups of mixed strawberries, peaches, blackberries, and rhubarb. I didn't have the tapioca, so I used corn starch per another reviewers suggestions. Came out perfect, & the best tasting pie ever.

Yummy. I made it as is, except instead of adding the instant tea to the mix, I brewed the tea separately. Sorry, I just don't like the taste of instant tea. Then I added the creamer & spice mix to the tea. I used about 2 T. for a large mug.
