I've been cooking since I was 13. I come from a very big family (6 kids in total) and loved making four course dinners for my entire family since my early teens. Now its just my husband I and sometimes friends, but the love for cooking has not died. I think cooking is an art.
My favorite things to cook
Desert...yummy cakes and pies, and Italian dishes too - sauces from scratch, pasta with chicken and a million different herbs, oh, and Mexican foods too, though Thai food is also another one of my favs. Ok, I love experimenting and I guess everything is my favorite!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking. My mom baked alot when I was little, since she had so many kids and everyone wanted snacks all day long. I guess that passed on well. I love baking cakes - carrot, lemon, simple chocolate - and cookies, pies and scones.
My cooking triumphs
There have been many, but more recently, my family and in-laws had come over for our wedding, and then stayed over for a couple of weeks. It was a party everyday. I made these blueberry muffins for breakfast one day - which everyone gobbled, then I made Pad Thai for dinner that day, with chicken satay and peanut sauce. My mother in law liked it so much, she was eating the sauce with a spoon!! Then later that night, I heard my Father in law on the phone, tell his brother in Canada what an awesome cook his new daughter in law was.
My cooking tragedies
I'm sure there have been quite a few... but cant think of any right now.
