About this Cook
I'm a mother of four. I've been married for 3 years and we're still learning from one another. My husband says that I'm better at cooking than he is so therefore, leaves the kitchen all to me. My mother in law lives with us as well and sometimes that is a strain because she is really picky about what she eats. So, now I know where my husband gets it!! My kids are rather picky as well so its a constant battle yet a balance as well to please everyone in the household.
My favorite things to cook
I like to make potato soup..its relatively simple yet very filling and most everyone likes it. I've begun experimenting with deep frying different things to see how they will turn out. I love making my Enchilada Casserole the way that my mother taught me...and Bier Roch's are another all time favorite!! My family also loves my rendition of "Fried Spaghetti".
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm currently cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my mom, step dad and little brother because my mom is disabled now and can't get in the kitchen to cook the meals that she used to cook and I enjoy every minute of it because she fed me so well as a child and this, to me, is a way to repay her for her love and kindness! I love to get my kids in the kitchen as much as possible to help me cook! I think its never too early or too young to get them involved in cooking!!
My cooking triumphs
The last 2-3 years cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my family has been a big triumph because I try to cook like my mom showed me and in a lot of ways, I have triumphed. Cooking for a large amount of people that come to visit and stay for dinner....my husband always says to me that I've always met the challenge head on and overcome that obstacle everytime no matter if those people were planned or unexpected!
My cooking tragedies
I absolutely cannot make fudge from scratch...for some reason, unbeknownst to me, I can turn a liquid back into basically a cocoa powder form which is hilarious yet saddening because my mom does it so perfectly and she was the one trying to teach me. I have had quite a few dishes burn or scorch, really upsetting me. But, my husband just tells me to try again and to never stop trying because practice makes perfect!
