Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
I followed the advice to use beef stew seasoning instead of individually adding spices, and I skipped the garlic, only because I didn't want to smell like garlic at work. It was SO easy and SO fabulous! Absolutely perfect stew with very little effort.

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
I have made this for numerous brunches and potlucks, and everyone always wants the recipe! It is delicious and very quick to throw together. I do saute the onions with the sausage, though, as I am afraid of getting a raw onion taste.

Peanut Butter Pie 2000

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
I have another peanut butter pie recipe but couldn't find it when I was making my grocery list, so I used this one. It is MUCH better, lighter, and creamier than the one I was used to! I think the difference is whipping the cream cheese before adding the powdered sugar. In any case, I used a granola crust, and layered the bottom with melted chocolate chips before pouring in the filling. Everyone wanted seconds!

Yam Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
Leftovers - what leftovers? I have a big family Christmas at my house, but in the past, almost the whole sweet potato casserole would be leftover. Not this year! It was practically licked clean and everyone raved and asked for the recipe. I did substitute regular corn flakes for the frosted because that was what I had on hand, but otherwise followed it to the letter. Thank you for bringing sweet potatoes back to our holiday gathering!

Glazed Meatloaf II

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
I substituted 1C panko for the bread, 1T onion soup mix for the bouillon, and nearly ground the onions in the food processor (mainly because my daughter kept pushing the button), which kept out big chunks that could make it fall apart. I only put in 1T lemon juice because I was afraid it would be too citrussy, but you couldn't taste the lemon (or the soup mix) at all. I also used a beef/pork/veal mix for the meat. It was really delicious! Even my extremely picky 13-year-old gobbled it up. The glaze was wonderful and there was a lot of it. I think next time I would make the whole batch, and heat up the excess and serve it to spoon over the meatloaf. I have tried dozens of meatloaf recipes over the years, and this is one of the best. Thank you!

Sylvia's Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
The ribs were so tender and the sauce was wonderful. We used 4 pounds of ribs though, and there was way too much - I will cut it in half next time. Thanks for posting such a great recipe!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2007
I increased the flour to 1 1/2 cups, but kept the baking soda at 1/2 t, as I hate cakey cookies. The cookies were crispy and chewy and very good, except for a slight aftertaste that I think was due to too much vanilla. Next time I will reduce the vanilla to 1 t. My son, who won't go near anything with oatmeal in it, gobbled them up!

Favorite Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2006
I, too, was concerned that it would be too sweet, but it was perfect. Every picky eater in my family cleaned their plate, including my one-year-old. This one's a keeper!

Candy Bar Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2003
This recipe is wonderfully easy and delicious! I've made it several times now--our favorite is using plain chocolate bars on one half (for the kids) and Heath bars on the other.

American-Italian Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2001
I substituted chopped red pepper for the celery, buttermilk for the sour cream, and did 1/2 italian dressing mix and half buttermilk ranch. Kids and adults at the potluck gobbled it up! This is the best recipe I've ever tried on allrecipes.com!

Chicken With Mushrooms

We did not enjoy this recipe. The breading became mushy, and it was just not very flavorful.

Scrumptious Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2001
It wasn't as solid as I thought it would be, but it turned out to be everyone's favorite--they all gobbled it up! The topping didn't really solidify for me, but it was still delicious.

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2001
I was a bit dubious about using this recipe, but I hate making mashed potatoes at the last minute, so I gave it a try. They were creamy and delicious, and everyone loved them! I used Yukon Gold potatoes, which worked very well. Thanks!

Cheese Straws

Reviewed: May 25, 2001
The recipe was excellent, although it was more time-consuming than I had thought to roll out the straws. After rolling them out, I refrigerated the straws for 5-10 min. (and then added 3-4 min. to baking time), which helped them puff a bit less and made them very flaky.
