About this Cook
Well, I'm 27 and find that my job doesn`t give me a lot of opportunities for time consuming hobbies, so I cook. I like to keep active, read listen to music and draw (which I dont really have time for). My rule when it comes to cooking is follow the recipe to a `T` the first time and tinker with it the next time.
My favorite things to cook
I like anything I can do in a frying pan, but have been tring slowcooker recipes recently.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We really dont have any... I mean I guess overcooked/dried out turkey at Thanksgiving, but thats about it. I guess its about time to start one of my own, deep fried pudding anyone?
My cooking triumphs
I cook a mean chicken marsalla, and a pretty good black bean soup.
My cooking tragedies
All things involving home-made dough...

Butterscotch Oatmeal
I am giving it a 4 because I thought it was just alright with no real butterscotch flavour but my fiance thought it was great. Careful with the sugar, I have made it twice now, once by the book (which turned out well) and another time eyeballing the sugar and it came out sticky and too sweet.

Roasted Corn Salsa
So-so... I started into this before I realized that is basically a no-cook salsa. The ingreedients taste good, but it is lacking the unification of flavours that a traditional salsa has. Next time I will probably toss it in a pot and cook until the tomatoes are basically liquid. Roasting the corn was a nice touch though.

Mushroom Spinach Omelet
Very, very good, but slightly too much garlic powder. Next time I make it I will double the recipe, but use the same amount of garlic. The recipe as posted isn`t quite enough for two, but more than enough for one (we eat light breakfasts here). I will make it again.
