When I first started cooking nearly 10 years ago, all I could make was cheese & crackers, minute rice and hamburger helper. With the help of this website and the very first book that was published by allrecipes, I have turned into the experienced cook that I am. My old cookbook is an orange paperback that is tattered, torn and completely filled with notes on almost every page. I seriously have cooked almost all of the recipes in that book!! So, I thank you, allrecipes and my husband does too!!! I love to cook everything, really. I do not discrimiate!! My friends would say that I like to cook desserts, but that is because every time I do, I make extra to bring to them. Lord knows that I don't need tons of dessert lying around in my house!! When I was a child, we had lasagna, salad and garlic bread every Christmas Eve, and I have been continuing this tradition in my house for the past six years. Also, my husband's family loves for me to bring Baked Corn (a recipe that I found in my trusty ole' orange allrecipes cookbook) to every family function that they have. My homemade macaroni and cheese (that tastes like Luby's) is always requested. Adults and children alike can NEVER get enough. We were having a BBQ get togehter at our house with our best friends, and I was in charge of homemade mac and cheese, beans and all the trimmings. The mac and cheese was finished, so I took it out of the oven and placed it on the stove to cool. About 10 minutes later, we heard this explosion sound...dummy me put the GLASS 9x13 of mac and cheese on a lit gas burner on the stove. Apparantly, the fire "cooked" the glass dish to the point of explosion. We had to throw away everything...even what was left in the pan (that looked OK) had shards of glass in it. Thank God it was our best friends over and not strangers. Talk about embarrassing!! :0)
