Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff
My husband LOVED this, but I did make some changes to the basic recipe. Since I worry about sodium for us both, I used only half the Italian dressing mix, adding more oregano, basil, fresh rosemary, and fresh garlic. I didn't use the whole 8 oz. brick of cream cheese, probably more like 2/3 of it, and I stirred in some sauteed sliced onion and baby portabellos with the cream cheese and soup. I worried it would be too thick after reading reviews, so I stirred in about 1/4 cup of vermouth; if I had had white wine, I would have used that. I served it over brown rice, and my husband raved about it. Actually, I had bought sour cream to add as well, but I forgot it!
