French Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
Very good. Did not want 4 cups of dressing so I cut all the ingredients in half except the onion and paprika. I prefer french dressing a little tart so I also only used 1/4 cup of sugar.

Key West Chicken

Really excellent flavor for such a simple recipe. Followed exactly except let it marinate for 3-4 hours.

Italian Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
This dressing was good but not particularly distinctive. I follow the recipe exactly except for substituting olive oil. I did not find it overly sweet just a little on the bland side.

Neat Sloppy Joes

I liked it although it is a bit on the sweet side. The kids weren't as positive so we had leftovers which (true the description) froze and reheated very well.

Caribbean Holiday Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
I thought these were good. The ginger in the marinade seemed to dominate the flavor. I served the shrimp still sitting in the marinade which I think made the texture get a little soft. Next time, I think I'll drain the marinade before serving.

Tangy Shrimp and Scallops

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
Made this recipe with just the scallops (no shrimp). Followed it precisely except I let them marinate for 2-3 hours. Unlike some other reviewers, I thought the scallops held the marinade flavor pretty well.

Banana Cream Pie I

Excellent! Two minor changes... used a pre-made Nilla wafer crust and did not bake for 15 minutes. The pudding alone is exceptionally good.

Whipped Cream

Followed the recipe exactly and it came out just right. I can see how some folks might want a little more sweetness, but I prefer to not overpower the cream with sugar.

Balsamic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
Fast and tasty, but it needed a little something so I doubled the amount of garlic and added a tablespoon of chopped basil, a teaspoon of oregano, a 1/2 teaspoon onion powder and teaspoon of honey.

Beefaroni

I thought the kids would love this recipe, but instead they found it kind of bland. I followed recipe exactly except for browning the ground beef with a little garlic and onion.

Ron's Grilled Shrimp

Great flavor! Followed the recipe almost exactly... marinated for 4 hours and grilled on skewers rather than basket. Keep a close watch on the grill as shrimp cook quickly.

Jen's Heavenly Egg Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I was missing a few ingredients so I made the following substitutions: the juice of a whole (small) lime for the lemon, 1 1/2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard (no yellow), 1/8 cup red onion not green onion and a finely chopped celery stalk for some crunch. It tasted very good... maybe a little less mustard next time.

Bananas Foster II

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
A great recipe that I decided to try on the grill! I put a skillet on the grill to make the sauce. I brushed the bananas with honey and put them on the grill for 2-3 minute each side. I finished the bananas in the skillet with the sauce for 3-4 minutes. Everything over ice cream. Rave reviews from the family!

It's like the dish I remember my grandmother making... very good!I used two cucumbers but could have easily used 4-5 based on the amount of liquid.

The kids really liked this recipe as did my wife. I found it a little bland - though nothing that Tabasco on my fajita couldn't cure.

Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Very good and the kids loved it. I think using tomatoes is key getting a fresh taste to the sauce. I added an 8oz can of tomato paste to thicken and doubled the sugar. Store bought crust, shredded mozzarella mixed with grated parmesan and you're ready to bake in 15 minutes. In the oven at 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Slow Cooker Thanksgiving Turkey

Very good. Didn't have garlic pepper so I used 1/2 teaspoon garlic power and 1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper. Used some of the leftover liquid with a little cornstarch and flour to make gravy. The gravy was awesome.
