About this Cook
I live in the Bay Area of California and am currently exploding into a period of culinary experimentation. Although I admit I am usually not the most organized person, I am careful to document any changes I make to recipes when I cook them and ideas for future recipes. In addition to cooking I love sports (particularly tennis), reading, and doodling strange designs on every scrap of paper I discover.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook what I like to eat, which is just about every type of food I know; however, I especially love fresh, spicy tasting foods as well as rich, melt-on-the-tip-of-your-tongue types of foods. The former of these is dominated by a wide variety of Latin American cooking, while the latter involves pasta sauces (of all kinds) and creamy deserts. I have additional affinities for seafood and meals that feature rich, fruity accents.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A good ammount of my love of deserts (esp. chocolate) undoubtedly originates from my sister, a much better and more intuitive cook than I. A slightly more practical and health-oriented line of cooking(though still featuring some fairly unhealthy but delicious meals) exists through my mother, her mother, and even her mother.
My cooking triumphs
Aside from smoothies and tomato sauces, I haven't yet begun to create my own recipes from scratch, instead fixing up recipes I discover. Therefore I'm afraid I can't claim rights to any of the truly wonderful things I have cooked; hopefully that is soon to change!
My cooking tragedies
Not too much that I can think of... I cook for myself, so I don't mind if it doesnt look right so long as it tastes good, and I know what types of food I like and don't cook much of anything else.

Easy Decadent Truffles
fantastic and wonderfully easy to make, these are perfect as desserts or gifts. I highly suggest using raspberry extract (or other raspberry flavoring) in place of vanilla, it adds wonderful uniqueness to the recipe!

Brazilian Lemonade
would have given this 4 stars, but it is much too gritty and very hard to strain. this works much better if you blend only the sugar water and lime first then strain it (multiple times) with a very very fine strainer; this way you strain the lime peels, not the milk froth, and you don't loose the small chunks of ice. the proportions of this recipe were pretty much perfect though.
