About this Cook
I work for a construction company by day. I am married with one daughter who just graduated college. I have two cats and two dogs that are very spoiled. I exercise a lot to work off all that I cook.
My favorite things to cook
I have a super sweet tooth, so I am partial to baked goods. Just recently I started experimenting with breads and pastry doughs.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition is making my families birthday cakes.
My cooking triumphs
A three tier birthday cake for my daughter's eighteenth birtday.
My cooking tragedies
I made a banana cake but my bananas were still a little green. I knew they tasted too green before I made the cake but they were all that was available at my grocery store. I was hoping that once I added the sugar and other ingredients that it would disguise the "green banana" flavor. They did not disguise the flavor at all, in fact, baking the bananas accentuated the flavor. It was the worst tasting cake ever, no one could eat it. Lesson learned, if one ingredient is not right, leave it out or make something else, it will ruin the whole dish.

Bermuda Spinach Salad
This was really good. When I first tasted the dressing, I thought the onion was a little over powering but once it was tossed with the salad it was much more balanced. I'll be making this again.

Black Bean Tart
My family really liked this dish. I made it exactly as written except I used a springform pan instead of a tart pan.

Elegant Orzo with Wilted Spinach and Pine Nuts
Really good. We will have this often. I didn't change a thing.
