I am a 26 year old college graduate, wife and mother of 2. I love trying new recipes and having them ready when my family walks in the door from school or work. They absolutely love when I try new things because 10 times out of 10 they turn out delicious. Because of this I am addicted to the foodnetwork. My favorites are the Neely's and Giada De Laurentis. I have added a lot of their recipes to my personal recipe book that intend to pass down to my daughter once she marries and has her own family!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook any and everything. At the moment I am trying to put a foot into cooking Asian cuisine, but its a little intimidating. Hopefully I will make that step and love to cook Asian for myself instead of hitting up PF Changs every chance I get. Italian is definitely on the menu every week, Whether it be baked ziti, stuffed shells, spagetti, lasagna, chicken alfredo or chicken parmesan. I LOVE italian!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking for thanksgiving that is my absolute favorite holiday. It has become more of a favorite holiday for me because I cook an entire meal for my family. I cook the traditional southern menu of Turkey and stuffing, cornbread, candied yams, collard greens, fried chicken or chicken-n-dumplings,macaroni and cheese and beef stew and rice. WE have all that food waiting for us when we come home after visiting with relatives for the holidays. I know once my grandmother and mother are long gone their tradition will live on.
My cooking triumphs
I had never tried let alone cooked lamb but I saw Giada make a lamb and Chianti vinaigrette dish and just had to try it, it looked delicious. This recipe turned out absolutely perfect the first time and is now a regular in my house! I love lamb!
My cooking tragedies
lol, um the first time I tried to make a homemade apple pie the bread was too dry, I didnt have a rolling pin so the dough looked rather funny. It tasted okay but It didnt turn out the way I wanted to that would have to be a tragedy. Since then I have upgraded my kitchen utensils and practiced at making that homemade crust!
