About this Cook
I am 63 years old, I have been teaching Indonesian language in Holland. For almost ten years I am a diabetic and have to hold onto low carb and low fat cooking. But I have a sweet tooth and am a gourmet. So I like to cook new recipes and make them delicious but nevertheless very healthy!
My favorite things to cook
Sometimes I like to serve Asian dishes for a whole week, after that I will switch to another cuisine like Italian for another week, or even to real Dutch cooking. Asian dishes like "rijsttafel" which is Indonesian or Thai Tom Yum are favourable. Risotto funghi and pasta dishes are great. Quick cooking will be stirfry Chinese, Dutch "zuurkool" is a winterdish!
My favorite family cooking traditions
These are common dishes like Indonesian rijsttafel, chili with kidney beans, spaghetti bolognese, laksa soup, lasagna, fried rice, stir fry, japanese tempura, sushi, Dutch pea soup "erwtensoep", "zuurkool", pumpkinsoup, quiches, and a lot more!
My cooking triumphs
I cooked an Italian dinner for my friends and it was a success. The risotto funghi was good, osso bucco nepalese was succulent and the tiramisu lemon curd was delicious. For family parties I usually prepare a fruit bowl with exotic fruit, fried rice, fried noodles, gamba's, small meatballs and green salads.
My cooking tragedies
I once prepared turkey and put it in the oven, but it never got well-cooked. So I never tried again.

Warm Apple Cinnamon Cobbler
This is a low-fat cake and I like it. It doesn't take much time to make. As I am a diabetic I lowered the amount of sugar. Also you should lower the oven to 150 degrees.
