Dark Chocolate Bacon Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
WOW!!! So delicious!! I made them late last night and ate 2 right away (my fiance ate FOUR! I couldn't stop him!), I just sampled a small bite of one this morning to see how the flavor had fused together, and they're even better than before! Truly decadent and delicious. I felt that they definitely needed the extra chocolately/sugary kick of chocolate frosting, so I topped them with the "Creamy Chocolate Frosting" recipe also from this site....thank you Milwaukee Cupcake Queen!!

Pepper-Honey Cedar Plank Salmon

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
I did it both ways, on the grill for my sister and I then in the oven when my fiance got home from work...the grill was a little more flavorful. Also, I like my salmon more of a medium well to well temperature so I left it on a few extra minutes. I will be using this recipe many more times in the future....thank you!!!

Broccoli and Sausage Cavatelli

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
Pretty delicious, although I modified it a lot...I used 4 mild italian turkey sausage links (casings removed), fresh broccoli which I steamed in my rice cooker, about half a can of diced tomatoes (drained), extra garlic, extra chili flakes, about 5 fresh basil leaves roughly chopped, and only about 1/3 cup olive oil. The only tricky part was getting the broccoli, pasta, and garlic/olive olive oil mixture finished at the same time, but it came out beautifully....My fiance was raving about how good it was! :)

Velvety Pumpkin Soup With Blue Cheese and Bacon

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
EXCELLENT soup...and if you have leftovers...sautee some sliced boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a bit of vegetable oil, and add a tablespoon of curry powder while they're cooking. Once cooked through, add the leftover soup and some frozen green peas (thawed). Simmer over low heat about 5 min. Serve over hot rice...seriously delicious!!

Spicy Bratwurst Supper

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
As a Wisconsinite, I was thrilled to see such a creative use of bratwurst in a recipe! I was doubtful about how all these ingredients would mesh together, but this was so delicious! I upped the amount of sauce, mushrooms, onions, and jalapenos b/c I can never get a enough heat (I even dumped a little tabasco sauce on this while eating it). My fiance was still talking about how delicious this was the next day. 5 stars, great job on this recipe. PS...I didn't have gouda...we sprinkled a little sharp cheddar on it...Honestly, this dish is so darn good that just about any cheese would have worked fine, but I will have to get actual gouda next time since that's another Wisconsin favorite!

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
This will be one of my go-to recipes when we have company. It is elegant, delicious, and super easy to prepare. I also prepared the honey-mustard-butter mixture an hour ahead and let the filets soak in it. Also, I might take another reviewer's advice and increase the pecans while decreasing the breadcrumbs slightly in the crust mixture to make it a bit more crunchy. But you can't beat this dish. I served it with brussel sprouts roasted in Meyer's lemon-infused olive oil and the "Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes" also from this site. To die for...

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
So far, I have only partially made this recipe, but I absolutely loved it. I had the fish marinating (I used red snapper instead of tilapia) then during the day, some friends called and invited us to a BBQ...they already had a ton of food, so I decided to just bring the marinaded filets to toss on the grill and eat as-is. They were so flavorful after 6 hrs. of soaking! Can't wait to try the whole taco w/ the chipotle cream.

LuvAnn's Guacamole

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
Reduce all ingredients except the lime juice, the cilantro (you could even add a little extra cilantro) and, of course, keep the amount of avocado the same. In my opinion, it would have been way too salty and filled with other stuff aside from avocado to have the texture and taste I like. I added 1/8 tsp. ground cumin at the same time as the salt. I also toss one minced clove of garlic in with the tomatoes, onion, etc.

Pecan Pie III

Very yummy! I took advice of other reviewers' and melted 1/4 c. butter and dissolved one tablespoon flour into that. It was soooo good, the first pie I've ever made...thanks for a great recipe!

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Great sweet and spicy flavor combination. I made this for my vegan brother on Christmas. He loved it. Next time I will cut down the roasting time to 35 min. b/c my potatoes came out a little mushier than I would have liked, though they still (thankfully!) held their shape in the soup. Also, I will use about half an onion next time. My onion was quite large and I don't like to eat so many straight-up onions in my soup.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
Mmmm, the perfect comfort food. I added a splash of dry white wine in the beginning with the chicken, butter, and seasoning packet. Don't believe other reviewers when they say the whole packet is too much seasoning...it is the perfect amount. I cooked on low for 5 hours then added a can of sliced mushrooms (liquid drained) and some frozen peas (thawed) along with the cream of chicken soup and cream cheese. I served it over hot brown jasmine rice. My fiance and I ate the whole pot ourselves!!

Wienerschnitzel

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
This was so incredibly yummy. I served it with penne pasta in rosemary cream sauce. Next time I will whip up a simple mushroom gravy to go with it, b/c I love lots of sauce....however, just a squeeze of lemon was perfection as well!

Chocolate Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
Followed other reviewer's suggestion by replacing the "1 and 1/4 cup water" with 1/2 cup corn syrup, 1/2 cup 2% milk, and 1/4 cup water. Served over a Rachael Ray dessert which consisted of vanilla ice cream rolled in crushed amaretti cookies that are soaked with amaretto liqueur.

Chicken with Couscous

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Pretty good....I liked the colors and the texture...but I thought the curry overwhelmed it just a bit. Maybe I was not in the "curry" mood when I made it. Also, the flavor vastly improves when a sweet element is added....I suggest adding a generous handful of golden raisins along with the zucchini, onions, etc.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
Yummy!! Perfect for any chocaholic. One tip I recommend to do is use parchment paper and flatten the cookie just a tiny bit so they have a better shape when they bake. Also, make sure you get a healthy coating of powdered sugar on them before they go into the oven, this helps with the "crackling" effect.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
I didn't take the time to read the reviews before I made this. I am going to re-do it for the party I'm throwing on Sunday b/c I think a few small changes will make them even more amazing than they already are! First of all, make sure you bake the crust itself for the full 20 min., if not a minute or two extra. I will add 1/4 tsp. salt to the crust next time. Also, I will use 2/3 cup lemon juice, zest of one lemon, and 1 extra T. flour in the lemon mixture. Great recipe.

Sherry Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
This is my FAVORITE yellow curry recipe. Rich, creamy, and delicious! I like to use hot madras curry, or regular curry powder w/ 1/2 tsp. chili powder. I also use light coconut milk to cut down the calories a bit. I can't say enough how tasty this is!!

I added a little extra salt and butter. I throw them right into my kitchen made stand mixer and stir them to perfection. They go fabulously with "Pork Tenderloin with Creamy Herb Sauce" also on allrecipes.com.
