About this Cook
I've been waitressing for many years. I love the culinary knowledge I have gained working in the fine dining industry. Also, my cooking benefits b/c I have professional chefs whom I can consult with whenever I have questions. My wine pairing abilities are not too bad either.
My favorite things to cook
Anything and everything!! Especially if it doesn't cost me too much, and most of the ingredients are items that I already have on hand.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandparents are from Ukraine, and my mother and grandmother used to make the most amazing perogies. Unfortunately I have not attempted them yet, but some day I will!
My cooking triumphs
I try to cook for my fiancee and I at least a few times a week. When I make a dish that turns out delish, professional-looking, and HEALTHY (not 'diet' but not overloaded with fat, salt, and calories)....I am most proud of my cooking. Also, I love experimenting with new spices and methods- I never stop learning when I'm in the kitchen!
My cooking tragedies
Hmmm, lots of tragedies. Probably the most memorable was my very first attempt at making chocolate chip cookies all by myself. I used powdered sugar from a jar that I thought was filled with flour! Needless to say, I ended up with a melt-y mess and 10-year-old me in tears!!!

Butternut Squash Soup with Spinach Ravioli
This was fantastic! I gave it 4 stars because- as other reviewers have previously stated- the consistency was a bit too thin. I would add at least 1 extra cup of cubed squash....next time I may try tossing in an apple and a carrot as well. I put whole wheat spinach and cheese tortellini in this as well as some sage flavored bulk sausage to make it a little heartier as a meal. A little extra spice may help if you are adding extra squash, but don't over-do it. The delicate flavor of the squash, wine, and leeks together is what makes this so good!

Zucchini Bread III
Very good, although I made them into muffins and they got very stuck on the paper cups I used....maybe b/c I used 2/3 cup applesauce and only 1 cup oil? Not sure, but they were still yummy.

Dark Chocolate Bacon Cupcakes
WOW!!! So delicious!! I made them late last night and ate 2 right away (my fiance ate FOUR! I couldn't stop him!), I just sampled a small bite of one this morning to see how the flavor had fused together, and they're even better than before! Truly decadent and delicious. I felt that they definitely needed the extra chocolately/sugary kick of chocolate frosting, so I topped them with the "Creamy Chocolate Frosting" recipe also from this site....thank you Milwaukee Cupcake Queen!!
