About this Cook
I just started to enjoy cooking a couple of years ago--I love this website and go here for a lot of recipes (along with Real Simple--my favorite magazine since Domino folded). I love to bake, use my crockpot and cook for my friends. I'm a writer by trade and would love to go back to (cooking) school so I can write restaurant reviews. That being said, I go to the gym 3-4 times a week because my Italian heritage does not mix well with my love of food!
My favorite things to cook
Anything in a crockpot and that calls for exact measurements--I'm not my grandmom...I don't do so well with the "a pinch of this and a pinch of that."
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas Eve. dinner...nuff said.
My cooking triumphs
Pot roast and the most delicious homemade mashed potatoes, most definitely.
My cooking tragedies
I believe there may be too many to list here...probably the one that takes the cake is when I accidentally set my robe on fire back in college from trying to use too many burners at once without rolling up my sleeves. Safety first, people. Safety first!

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf
Yum! I also took advice from some of the other reviews--I added a half onion, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika to the meat mix. Instead of folding in cheese, I used shredded mozzarella and made a layer of it in the middle and then put more meat mixture on the top. To finish it off I spread on a thin layer of BBQ sauce. This came out so delicious I will def make it again!

Spicy Sweet Potato Soup
This came out awesome! I omitted some things like the sour cream, tomato, cilantro and added an extra garlic clove, paprika instead of red pepper flakes and added some jamaican curry powder (OK, i changed it quite a bit but the basis is the same) used crunchy peanut butter with flax seeds--and it was AMAZING. I blended everything in a food processor and the texture came out perfect. Thanks! I'll definitely be making this at my next dinner party.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast
I thought this came out amazing--it was my first time making a pot roast! I added a few extra seasonings and used beef broth but my friends loved it!
