About this Cook
Like all kids I was very curious in the kitchen. I was also known to be cursed in the kitchen! I would stir a sauce, it would boil over. I would manage to burn myself once every time I stepped near the stove/oven. If a cornbread recipe called for baking powder, I would accidently grab baking soda! (the knife broke off in the 1 1/2 inch cornbread cement). One day I just... got it. I was throwing flavors together like crazy and learning all kinds of techniques. Now I'm a mom and I've found myself dining out much less. Being a chef for three has taught me a lot these last two years. I am excited to expand my horizons and share what recipes I have!
My favorite things to cook
Family dinners, quick and easy lunches/sides, deserts, appetizers. I love cake decoration!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents have always cooked everything for us. Anything baked, every meal, any snacks, and all holidays. My favorite holiday (year round) memories are with my sister and mother in that small, hot kitchen. MY absolute favorite memory has to be the tradition of making almond rocha from scratch and having our little taste testing assembly lines!
My cooking triumphs
Cake decoration I would say, probably because I can't think of a cooking recipe I wouldn't improve in some way!
My cooking tragedies
The cornbread catastrophe of 1995.

Chicken Curry III
Hands down, best curry base for chicken I have tried at home. I topped ours with a handful of freshly steamed peas for color and texture! I left out the coconut milk, increading the reg milk by 1/2 cup. I also left out the ginger (personal preference) but added more garlic. I felt that the 1 cup of water would make it too runny, and I am glad I left it out! Had to thicken it a little with more yogurt. TIP: To smooth it out, process a few spoonfuls of yogurt with about 1/2 of the sauce and stir it back into to the pan just before serving. It made all the difference for us!

Addicting Chip Dip
I don't know what everyone has been doing! This dip is crazy addicting. I've made it 10+ times now for family get togethers, and every time I see people scraping the bowl! I have one secret, I use fresh garlic straight from my food processor and leave the dip in the fridge overnight. This dip has been delicious with chips, pretzels, grain crackers, rice crackers, veggies, and I always make extra for when I make my turkey party wraps. If you want to be daring, add cheese as a topping. I've had success with fresh parmesan! If you didn't like it the first time, give it another go with fresh garlic and make sure it is mixed very well. The recipe says to whip the final ingredients with a fork, but I always use my electric hand mixer. When you get it right, it will have your friends and relatives gathered around the food table.

Apple Crumb Pie
Very tasty! I enjoyed the final product very much. The top was nice and crispy. I left the raisins out though, I just don't like raisins much. I also left out the optional lemon juice. I did not find the filling runny or too moist as some others did. I used Fuji apples, which I thought might turn out a little too sweet, but they were perfect! Also, I sliced them super thin which turned out amazing. The only mistake I made was cooking it on a cookie sheet, the bottom didn't cook well. My mistake though! Next try will be perfect, I'm sure!
