About this Cook
I like to cook as a pastime (which is always); trying out new recipes is my absolute favorite! People who live with me enjoy that cooking is my hobby. Food makes everything nice and I enjoy a happy party!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook italian pasta dishes. Then serve it with the works, like in an Italian restaurant. Presentation is always impressing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We cook tamales for Christmas. I have never made them on my own but I'm getting better at it every year.
My cooking triumphs
I have successfully learned how to make enchiladas; and tasty ones too!
My cooking tragedies
When I was younger I tried to make biscuits using a recipe for dumplings over soup (I omitted the soup part). I added the whole amount of baking soda into the 'buscuits' that should have been divided between the dumplings and soup. My sisters claimed they tasted like batteries!

Butter Flaky Pie Crust
I use this crust for all my pies. I absolutely love it! I don't understand why it is giving so many people problems. I mix the flour and salt together then I cut in the butter with a knife and add about 4-5 T. of water. I then mix it well with my hands till smooth (I even knead it on my countertop)then roll it out to size constantly patting both sides with flour so it won't stick to the counter. I then use it right away (no refrigeration). Once it's placed in the pie dish and the edges are pinched decoratively, I fill it and cook according to pie's directions. Never had a problem with it!

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie
I make several of these pies every year. I just love them. I do increase the pumpkin spice to 1 T. however. Also, because this pie is made from scratch, I suggest refrigerating it once it cools. It does not keep very long left out at room temp. This is because this pie is natural, free of all that preservative junk that store bought pies contain. There is absolutely no pie like that made from fresh ingredients!
