About this Cook
I have been a stay at home mom since 1998. I have two girls that I home school. I am married to a wonderful man. We rarely eat out at resteraunts, because my husband would rather eat the food I cook.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, cheesecake, yeast breads, pot pie (chicken or beef) I like to try to imitate my favorite resteraunt entrees. I have mastered Cracker Barrel's Chicken and Dumplins' (which I modified for better flavor) also Marie Calendar's Chicken Pot Pie. I just recently fixed Chicken Scampi which I had at the Olive Garden, It turned out wonderful!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a family of cooks. My Mother, Grandmother and Great Aunt (all from my mom's side of the family) are wonderul cooks. My Aunt is on the hospitality crew at our church, and makes wonderful food. My Gramma is almost 85 and still cooks. My Mom tried to teach me to cook when I was growing up, but I just didn't want to learn. I taught myself to cook by trial and error. allrecipes.com is my favorite place to find recipes.
My cooking triumphs
I have had many triumphs since my early cooking days. I have a special request from family and friends every Thanksgiving and Christmas for Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake. It is to die for. I also get requests for homemade baked beans which are white beans (Navy or Great Northern) cooked with bacon, onions, pure maple syrup and dry mustard, and of course water, salt and pepper
My cooking tragedies
When I moved out on my own, I had many tragedies in the kitchen, one time I recall I tried to make pizza with refrigerator pizza crust (which I now make from scratch-Pizza Huts recipe)I used two packages for one pizza, I put it on the only baking sheet I had, which was a cookie sheet. It was so thick it never cooked all the way. I remember calling my mom and crying to her and wishing I would have let her teach me.

Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes
this recipe is good. I usually half the recipe since it makes way too much for my famliy of 4. I actually keep the onion, flour, and salt measurements the same...but use less milk and potatoes. It actually turns out better this way for me. The original recipe (if followed exactly) is slightly bland in flavor, so I would advise you double the onion and add a little more salt for flavoring if you make this recipe.

E-Z Drop Biscuits
I love how easy this recipe is. It's really a no fail recipe. I followed the advice of other reviewers and left out the cream of tartar. For a great flavor I added a teaspoon of thyme and a teaspoon of parsley. The flavor from the thyme was wonderful! Will make these again.

Peanut Butter Bars I
I have been using a similar recipe for years with the exception of adding the peanut butter to the chocolate chips. ***WARNING*** It's best to make these if you are able to share with others, otherwise you will wind up eating most of the pan!!! They are that good!
