Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
Good pie. Simple ingredients. Don't believe the directions that say chill one hour. You've gotta chill it at least a couple in the fridge or part time in the freezer. Mine was still liquid after an hour in the fridge. Good though.

Red Potato Salad

Meh. I made this with yogurt and cut back on dill (my husband doesn't prefer dill). Kind of blah. Guess I'm used to the zestier, mustardier variety. Easy recipe though.

So, so good and practically fool proof. Do prepare the jello per the box before adding to the recipe. Too dry otherwise.

Pretty darn good. Add mushrooms. You can kind of use this recipe as a base and add/subtract ingredients for different taste.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

So good and easy. I go with 3lb meat and then add vegetables. Any more is a lot of meat and a lot of leftovers for a small family.

Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding

So good. I agree with someone - cut back on the sugar by at least half (and maybe add a few more chocolate chips). Oh, and no need to bake in a pan of water. 45 minutes in a glass pan works.

This was good. I may have added a little too much white wine. My husband liked it. It's good with a little parmesan on top.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Great recipe if you are dealing with kitchen/cooking and timing conflict... perfect example: Thanksgiving - something in the oven, stovetop full, etc. Tastes fabulous. The mushrooms really add to it. I want to make it again.

Stuffed Shells I

Darn good! Good for kids who "don't like ricotta". I made it for a pregnant friend who had a kid who "didn't like ricotta" but ate this all. Great for vegetarians and husbands. I don't make any changes. This is in the meals-we-eat-regularly rotation.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Such good comfort food. I didn't use actual onions, I did onion salt, but still, so good. Just simple and good. If you like potatoes and cheese, this is for you. I left the skins on for some added nutrition.

White Bean Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Meh. Don't add corn or carrots if you're someone who likes the flavor of white beans. They distract. Maybe I'm a white bean purist. I like my white bean soup beany and this was not it. I'll not make it again.

Meatiest Vegetarian Chili from your Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Say 4.5 stars. This is a good, hearty, VERY nutritious chili. I use a very firm tofu or a baked tofu in this. Adds to the "meatiness". You can also add whatever veggies are in the fridge to use them or substitute or whatever.

Chinese Napa Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
I put baked teriyaki chicken on this salad and it is just good. Alone it's a lot of cabbage salad to ask someone to eat without a lot of textural variation. Anyway. Try it with the chicken. It's good. Especially if your husband is a tough sell sometimes on greens.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Darn good. I don't make any changes. I don't use a pastry brush, 'cause I don't have one - I just put a spoonful on each thigh at the beginning and a 1/2 spoonful at each rotation. This has made it into the meals-we-eat-often rotation. I put it over top of the Napa Cabbage Salad. GOOD!

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Really good basic recipe for sweet potatoes. I baked my medium - large potatoes a little over an hour and it was a little to long but still quite good. These were the most popular dish - everyone had some - at Thanksgiving.

Fresh Tomato Shrimp Pasta

I wasn't sure about this one. I put mozzarella on this either because the recipe called for it or because it was mentioned, but it didn't taste right. I think parm would have been better. It was ok, just nothing spectacular. Definitely easy and quick.
