One Fourth of the Table
About this Cook
I do love to read. In fact when I get a new cookbook I sit down and read it cover to cover just like a novel.
My favorite things to cook
My favorites are what will please most of the people eating that particular meal. Actually I'll try most anything at least once. I am real fond of pork, love all vegies and always looking for new things to put in the crockpot. I love sharing recipes - my E-Mail is btfreudig@hotmail.com
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love getting two or three of us together, each doing a part of the dinner. It is an annual thing that my sister-in-law and I make the stuffing for the bird on Thanksgiving morning. Then she always does the gravy and I make pies.
My cooking triumphs
I was nine years old and my mother was in the hospital just having given me another brother. My Dad left out some ground round and asked if I could make hamburgers for my other brothers if he was late getting home. Instead I made a meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans from our garden. My Mom and Dad were so proud of me. I don't think cooking for The White House would make me feel so loved and respected as a person and as a cook.
My cooking tragedies
My first Christmas dinner after I was married for the family (22) people. I didn't trust my automatic oven, got up at 5 a.m. to make sure it turned on. One of my brothers came over three hours later and asked if I didn't need the turkey he found out in the fridge in the garage where he was trying to lay wine bottles !! Several relatives had to leave without dinner with other plans and planes to catch. The oven worked great but it does help to remember to put the bird in it !!!

Jagic (Assyrian Cheese Spread)
I didn't change a thing. However unless I am entertaining next time I will cut it in half just for myself. I don't care for Pita chips so I used the 2 x 2 inch deli breads. I had pumpernickel, a light rye and whole wheat. Fantastic Traci B.

Peach Cobbler I
I used half and half instead of milk. And I agree the topping was adequate but could easily be doubled for a 9 x 13. I used frozen peaches and had no trouble and I think the butter and cinnamon were just right. It was so easy and tasted far more complicated then it was.

Chocolate Bread Pudding with Bourbon Pecan Sauce
I like another reviewer added more chips on the top for an even more chocolately flavor. I have also made it with cinnamon raisin bread. Pretty tasty also.
