I've always been a cut and paste type of cooker. Utilizing what I have in the fridge and cabinets and experimenting with spices is generally what I do in the kitchen.
However, a well planned meal is definitely most fun with another chef in the kitchen and a variety of challenging recipes to work on.
I enjoy cooking for people, making appetizers and making particular meals with friends (i.e. chili)

Black-Eyed Pea Salad
I end up making this dip for all the parties I attend where I need to bring something. Everyone loves it and requests it again and again. Best served after 1 full day in the refrigerator, this dip is tasty, easy and fast to make.
