About this Cook
I am a Christian, a wife, a mother of 3 boys, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, and a friend! My life is blessed by those who surround me! I am currently a stay at home mom where I, most of the time, enjoy caring for my boys Riley (7 yrs), Tyler (4 yrs), and Nathan (2 yrs) :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Recipes that have been handed down to me from more experienced generations!
My cooking triumphs
To be decided!!!! I'm always trying to out do myself. I've mastered a few cookie recipes that my kids/family LOVE and I've made some great layer cakes (thanks to AR!). I've also created a few of my own "signature" cake recipes. I have a small on the side/hobby cake "business". Mostly for friends, family and family friends! But hey, it's a start!
My cooking tragedies
Not too many tragedies fortunately! Just some black cookies that were forgotten in the oven....more than once I have to say!

Apple Crumb Pie
This is delish! Picked this recipe b/c I only had one crust. I'm sooo glad I found it. The crumb topping (which I doubled) was soooo good! I didn't find it too sweet probably b/c I used very tart granny smith apples. I did double the flour and still found that it was slightly liquidy after cooling ALL day. However, it wasn't so liquidy that it ruined the pie. I also packed the apples in there so that could have been part of it. My guests also LOVED this pie. Will be making this my standard apple pie recipe. It's soo EASY! (I love the taste of Grandma Opel's pie on this site, but that's better left when you want a more involved recipe. As far as taste, I like them both a lot, but MAY prefer this one b/c of the topping!)

Scrumptious Frosted Fudgy Brownies
These are by far the best "fudgy" type brownie out there. My family can't get enough of them! They come out soo "pretty" and taste even better! Not for those who only "like" chocolate!!! I also LOVE the frosting and use it for fillings in cakes, to frost cakes/cupcakes, and my husband loves to have a container in the fridge to eat it w/ a spoon! :) If you are looking for the ultimate chocolate brownie, look no further. What do you have to lose...give them a try! And if you by chance don't like them...send them our way! :)

Chewy Caramel
These have a great flavor! (I added a little more than a dash of salt for contrast). I cooked these to the hard ball stage like many others reviewers (a lot of stirring, about 20 mins). When cooled the texture is firm to hard, not sticky. As you eat them they soften up and become chewy and yummy!!! Big hit in our family! The Recipe makes a lot so it's great for holidays!
