My mom has done this for years and her mother before her. I picked up the tradition about 7 years ago when I got married and had to figure out Christmas gifts for my husband's extended family. I've been very proud of the cakes I've made for family members and now my own children's birthdays. Many hours have been spent with a decorating tip and icing bag! Hosting one of my first dinners, I made filet mignon. The food turned out great. The tragedy was that my yellow lab thought it looked good too and gobbled up a few of them!
