About this Cook
My husband and i recently moved from America to Ukraine. I love that I have to buy all my food products fresh from the market, but the options are limited or new to me; so I'm having to be creative and learn new recipes. It takes a lot of work, but it's fun.
My favorite things to cook
anything easy and full of flavor!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When all of us work together - dad, husband, and brother around the grill. All the ladies inside working on different dishes. Cooking is not just about the food, it's about the relationships you develop during the mealtimes.
My cooking triumphs
learning to cook without canned products or mixes!
My cooking tragedies
ha! there have been a lot - burned pans, tasteless flops, mushy meals. Once I tried to make a couscous with tofu and chopped veggies. I made a huge batch enough for at least 12 people. It looked beautiful with all the diced vegetables. My husband and I took one bite, then went and ate McDonalds!

Balsamic Roasted Pork Loin
Pressed for time, I chose this recipe because it was fast, easy, and called for few ingredients. I was nervous because my husband is usually very picky when it comes to marinades - he hated the last few. But he LOVED this marinade and couldn't believe how simple it was. It's been several days since we ate the pork, but he's still talking about it! The only variance from the recipe was that I cooked my pork in a rotisserie for about 30 minutes.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I
So quick, easy, and delicious! This recipe is great for other canned fruits as well...I've tried pear and cherry also.

Christie B's Fabulous Cherry Cookies
Although these cookies were tasty and a great way to use up my cherries, the flavor was less cherry and more sugar. I didn't completely grind the cherries, just pounded them a bit and then let them drain as other reviewers suggested. The chunks of cherries were delicious. Next time I will try to keep the cherries more intact for bursts of cherry flavor. Despite the lack of cherry flavor, they were soft and delicious. I actually think they're tastier the second day instead of straight from the oven!
