Best Egg Rolls

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
I used this recipe as a base. I used a napa cabbage, soy sauce and a splash of oyster sauce, bit extra garlic, green onions, bean sprouts and bamboo shoots. I didn't want to fry them so, I boiled them in chicken broth flavored with soy and oyster sauce and green onions. It made the best soup. It almost tasted like my favorite soup "Won-Ton soup" I also didn't wrap them like egg rolls, instead I folded them like pot-stickers. Thank you for theidea. I will use this again for eggs rolls next time (with my changes)

Portobello Mushroom Stroganoff

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
I have always made beef Stroganoff with mayo and sour cream even though I'm not too fond of mayo and needing to add a lot of things to make it taste not so bland. I am so glad you thought of a better, yummier ing. like MUSHROOM. talk about a brain f... on my side (lol) Anyway, my husband liked it so much he brought some to the guys he works with and they all loved it. Great recipe, thanks 4 sharing.

Best Grilled Margarita Chicken... Ever!

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
I saw this recipe and the ingredients were something I had on hand beside it sounded like a really good recipe according to the other reviewers. I didn't have all the ingredients but I had most.I didn't use the extra tequila an triple sec. I had the pre-mixed Margarita Mix so I used that plus a little extra to make up the amounts of the two ing. I din't have. I also used the zest of a lime and orange extract for flavor (little splash) when I was done, the marinade didn't smell like too much and I was wondering if it would work. but, after marinading for 5 hrs. I grilled the chicken and the smells from the grill were awesome. I couldn't wait to try it. And I assume that the honey in the marinade was what made the chicken have that blackened look. I thought I had ruined the ckicken but it was so good and flavorful that my younger son just simply loved the taste. He couldn't stop eating the chicken even when his favorite side-dish was served with it. This is a wonderful marinade. I will definitely use it again and again. When a kid tells you that that's the best chicken they've ever tasted---then it's a definite keeper. Thank you for sharing!!!

Bacon Ranch Pea Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I love peas so I thought I'd try this recipe. I haven't even tasted it but I can tell it's great. The smell, the ingredients and not to mention the presentation. I did change some things (sorry about that) I did not use the mayo I used sour cream instead since I don't like the mayo taste much. I used green onions, and I added 2 boiled eggs (chopped of course) salt & pepper and instead of the ranch I used creamy Italian dressing a bit, to make the sour cream taste a little better. according to the other reviewers it tastes better the next day but, I don't think I'll have any leftover once I get my hands on it. Thanks for the recipe.

Easy Toffee

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
I didn't rate this when made this recipe, but it is the best dessert ever. I was skeptical because of the crackers it called for but it went well with this recipe and you couldn't even tell they were crackers. My daughter enjoyed them the most and when one of then fell out of her hand and back on her plate "up-side down" she was so surprised to see the cracker.and the longer they lasted the better they were. (but they didn't last long at all) well, needless to say my daughter definitely wants to include these in our Christmas batch of cookies. Thanks for the post. RG

Easy Deviled Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
I didn't see anything on the ingredients for this to be called "deviled" so, here's what I did--I marinated the chicken in "original RED HOT pepper sauce" for a few hours then when ready to cook I followed the recipe by breading them and they came out deviled. just like the KFC smackers but not as hot because the meat marinated in the sauce and not poured on top after coating with breading. If you like spice in your meals try it this way. deelish!!!! try it wish mashed potatoes and a green salad to cool the mouth.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
this deserves more than a "5"rating. I made this turkey and for the first time since trying to bake a turkey It has been a disaster. I was so ecstatic that I couldn't wait for everyone to sit and eat. My immediate family knew my hesitation when I was asked to make the turkey this year, so they were as happy for me as I was. One thing different that I did was (only because I'm used to doing it this way) to brine the turkey the night before to assure flavor throughout, then I just omitted any other ingredient that would add any more salt. I used half water and half chicken broth and the spices as noted.I now know it wasn't necessary. Beautiful taste Thank you!!! this will now be only way I'll bake my turkeys!!!

Mushroom in the Middle Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Try this neat trick that I accidently realized while trying to figure how I was going to roll the meat over the soup mix. I had the meat shaped into the loaf and I cut a "wedge" of meat off the top and made a "well" in the meat and poured the soup into it and with the meat I cut off I shaped it to cover the wedge I had made and placed over the soup mix and it was easy to lift and handle as if it had nothing to spill. It worked like a charm and the meatloaf was excellent. I also added a packet of onion soup mix to the meat because I read that it was a tad bland. This is the best meatloaf I had ever tasted and it's the first meatloaf I didn't have to make a gravy for. This will be my new recipe for meatloaf and will definitely make many more times. Thanks for posting this great recipe. R.G.

Hamburger Rice Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2008
This was really good soup, I did make it more to my family's taste by adding a bit of salsa to the broth, and added half water and half beef broth. The meat I used was the hamburger patties I had left over from a BBQ. I omitted the potatoes since I don't like too many starchy food in my dish and I thought the rice was enough. I have a interesting tip on how to measure the rice according to the # of folks you'll be serving: "a fist full of rice per person" don't try to grab too much rice only what a comfortable grip can give you unless you like a lot of rice. I will make again--- a great comfort food.
