c: My name's Alysha, and I'm a 17-year-old highschool student living in a small town in Eastern Ontario. I'm just starting to get into cooking. (It's now something I do when I'm bored, or I need to eat something home-cooked and not pre-packaged.) I'm also into art, photography, writing, fitness, health, psychology, and a bunch of other neat-o stuff.
My favorite things to cook
Sugar-filled things, or desserts; but I also find it enjoyable to cook a fancy dinner for my mom, occasionally. c':
My favorite family cooking traditions
Shortbread cookies! My mom usually makes about 10 large batches of these every Christmas, but sends a large majority of them out to family members. :C Quiches are also a favourite for holidays in my family, as well as pies and pancakes. <3!
My cooking triumphs
Everything I've cooked so far is a triumph, lol. :P In Food & Nutrition class in school, I always burnt the chocolate chip cookies that we'd make, and they always expanded to the length of the pan they were cooking in. I'm happy things I'm cooking now are turning out great and tasty.
My cooking tragedies
Chocolate chip cookies - as told above. :c Also, I tried making "pancake puffs" in this cast iron pan my mother bought that's supposed to let you make ball-shaped things, but they just burned and fell apart. Sigh.
