I'm young at heart, married to the World's Best Husband, Mother to 2 Wonderful sons, and Grandmother to 2 Amazing boys. I love to cook, I feel it's a way to show my love, because I put my heart into it. I've been cooking since I was 8, so that means I've been cooking over 45 years! I love to try new dishes, and my husband is my guinea pig :)
I'm teaching my grandson's to bake and cook, because it's a way to have them learn to work together. I love hearing that they love what I cook!
My favorite things to cook
Hmmmm, cookies, chicken, steak, veggies... Oh, I make killer Swedish Meatballs, and I make an amazing Meat Loaf! I'm a perfectionist, too. The dish has to look perfect, the meat cooked perfectly, and taste heavenly. Very seldom do I have anything not taste great.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom taught me to make a huge spaghetti dinner for a Scouting Badge, many, many years ago, and I've been cooking ever since. I love cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for the whole family, and watching everyone pig out! Even the picky eaters! I have a new passion, decadent desserts, and this summer, I'm trying to enter the County Fair with some of my desserts.
My cooking triumphs
Let's see, there's been so many, thanks to Allrecipes.com. Most recent, steaks, using the best ever steak marinade, the peach-a-berry pie, the Apple pie by Grandma Opel... I really love this website, because it has made me an even better cook, and it's lit the fire under me again.
My cooking tragedies
Once, when I was a single mom and very poor, I had some ground beef, some noodles and some garlic. Nothing else. I tried making it work, but without flour or cornstarch, I don't know how to make gravy. It really was not very good, but we couldn't waste it, because it was pretty much all we had.
