I am an experimental psychologist and currently work with lemurs. They are amazing animals and never cease to impress me with their antics and skills. I have an amazing little nephew who lives entirely too far away. At the moment, I am working towards my PhD and trying not to stress out too much along the way!
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love to make chicken enchiladas, fruit salads and sour cream pear pies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is Chinese, so I try to make the things she cooked as I was growing up... unfortunately I never make pie crust that turns out as good as hers! But I like to make stir-frys, stuffed zucchini, tomato shrimp, curries, fried rice, Chinese BBQ chicken, and won-tons. I didn't learn much American cooking from family, but a lot from friends' parents, like baked beans, chili, biscuits and gravy and chicken and noodles.
My cooking triumphs
I have several blue ribbons for bread pudding, sour cream pear pies, brownies and various other desserts. Got an honorable mention for chicken wings once.
My cooking tragedies
The very first turkey I ever made... I didn't know they left a bag of guts inside the cavity of the turkey. Needless to say, it got cooked also... I never have made that mistake again!
