I've been a wife for almost 4 years and a mother now for 27 months (as of today). I'm blessed to be a stay-at-home mom, so I try to have good food and dinner prepared when my husband comes home from work. I love being a mother and this is just the beginning. I might be in my 30s, but I'm ready for more children and we are expecting our 2nd son in June, 2009.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook desserts, but I don't cook many. I love to cook italian foods and some just plain healthy foods. I'm a picky eater so there are some vegetables I won't cook with.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition is making apple pie the night before Thanksgiving. My mother, sister and I get together and do the prep work for Thanksgiving and then make the pie. We also try get together some time before Christmas and make cookies. Unfortunately, since we don't all live close anymore, that doesn't always happen.
My cooking triumphs
I can't think of any in particular. Most of what I try new, my husband loves. He is not a picky eater and will eat just about anything.
I love the recipes I find here and I've tried some cakes, breads and main entrees as well as snack bars for my son. They've loved them all.
My cooking tragedies
Oh dear. I made a dinner (thankfully for myself only) and it called for a clove of garlic. Just beginning to cook and no one around to really ask, I ended up putting in an entire bulb of garlic. I couldn't get the smell out of the house for a week! Needless to say, I smelled pretty bad too and had to throw out the rest of the entree because the garlic was unbearable. I have since learned the difference between a clove and a bulb of garlic.
