About this Cook
I am a SAHM (domestic goddess) with two beautiful little boys that are soon to be 2. I have been cooking daily for about 3 years, before that I was the lean pocket and protein bar queen. I grew up eating pretty bland so I am looking forward to branching out from meatloaf, poached eggs, and tacos.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking and decorating baked goods, although I am certainly still learning. In addition to baking I also like to cook traditional foods with a new twist.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Seafood Feast for New Year's Day.
My cooking triumphs
When my picky sister-in-law kept raving about my fried chicken. She told all of our friends and even left me a message the next day about how much she enjoyed it.
My cooking tragedies
This is hands down my sons' first birthday cakes. I made two three layer cakes without balancing them correctly resulting in a "leaning tower of cake" Also, after spending so much time decorating the cakes and trying to make them look nice I ran out of time to make the cookie letters and used store bought dough which resulted in flat, burned sugar cookies.

Pineapple Sweet Potato Souffle
Well, I made this as my "new" dish for thanksgiving this year, and while I enjoyed the flavor of the dish, the texture wasn't what I was expecting. I whipped the potato mixture for 11 minutes and it never became "fluffy". I used canned yams, which is supposed to be an acceptable substitution, but it wasn't. It was basically a puree. Because this wasn't fluffy, and it had the eggs in it, the texture a bit gross. I really enjoyed the pineapple topping, but I would reduce the sugar by a third next time. I think I will try this one more time with fresh sweet potatoes and see if the texture is better, if not, I will just make my praline yams and top with the reduced sugar pineapple mixture. Thanks for sharing.

Sesame Chicken with Honey Sauce
I have made this on several occasions and it always comes out just okay. Slightly toasting the seeds first seems to help.

Soft Garlic Breadsticks
This is my "go to" recipe for breadsticks. I brush with a potent garlic butter the last 5-7 minutes in the oven.
