About this Cook
Hello! My name is Krystal & I'm 23 years old. I live in Orlando, FL with my amazing boyfriend and our 3 lovely dogs! I love love LOVE to cook!! I like to call it my "therapy session" haha. I really enjoy cooking for other people. Themed food nights & grillin' out are my fave! I'll try anything once.... twice if I like it :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook up some good ol' comfort food!! It takes me back to me childhood! However, I really try to eat as healthy as I can. Veggie's are my all time favorite!! So I love finding new ways to cook/flavor them up. I love cooking on the grill!! I tend to eat a lot more chicken then other meats so I really enjoy trying new marinades, rubs, etc. Hamburgers are always fun as well... you can make them sooo many ways (as with potatoes)!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners are the best!! Spending all day in the kitchen getting everything prepared may sound like a drag, but with my family, we really savor that time together. Another family tradition - grandma's cornbread!! SOOOOOOOOO good!
My cooking triumphs
I was so excited when I made my first seafood dish. It was some kind of Asian salmon & it was sooo good! I only recently started eating seafood within the past couple of years, so when I cooked it to perfection I was totally thrilled!
My cooking tragedies
FRIED CHICKEN!!! So one day I decided that I was going to fry up some chicken cutlets. I had this vision in my mind that I would soak the cutlets in Frank's red hot/wing sauce & then I would flour them & fry them.... making the spicyness on the inside rather then coating them w/sauce once fried. I had never fried anything in my life before but I thought I knew the jist of it. So I heated up the vegetable oil but I didn't understand why my oil wasn't boiling. So I cranked up the heat. I started to smell a burn smell & thought oh well maybe its ready (I saw tiny bubbles at the bottom). When I dropped the 1st cutlet in, it turned black in about 5 secods & the entire house filled up with smoke! I started screaming & my boyfriend came to my rescue!! I've never lived it down since!

Chicken and Portobello Rollups
This was amazing!! The flavors BURST in your mouth! However, I did make a few alterations just because I honestly can't help it. Here are my alterations: 1.Cut the recipe in 1/2 to serve 2 people, 2. When sauteing the red pepper, asparagus & garlic, add garlic last. Minced garlic doesn't take long to cook & you def. don't want it to burn or it will ruin the dish, 3. Used button mushrooms (thats all i had on hand-worked out fine) 4. Sauted veggies in EVOO & a little butter, 5. After flatening the chicken breast, I seasoned the outside with onion powder, poultry seasoning, & black pepper & little seasoned salt, then rolled up and returned to same pan I cooked veggies in to brown both sides of chicken (also added about little EVOO to pan before putting chicken in), 6. For the sauce on top-I deglazed the pan by adding about 1/4 cup chicken broth to pan & scraping all that good yummy stuff at the bottom, let reduce for about 1 minute, then added the entire can of cream of mushroom soup. I skipped the milk & added about 3 tblpns 1/2 & 1/2. Also seasonsed the sauce w/about 1 tspn poultry seasoning & onion poweder, dash black pepper & little garlic salt. SO GOOD!! Loved it!
