KELLOGG'S* RICE KRISPIES* Squares Original Recipe

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
Yummy! As a busy mom, I don't bother with a pan though. I prepare my hands and a piece of waxed paper with cooking spray and shape it into a rectangle (about the shape/size/thickness that you'd make in a pan). Saves cleanup - one less pan to wash!

Awesome recipe! My daughter's birthday cupcakes were the hit of the party. Everyone asked me where I got them at because they wanted some just like them. Thanks!

I made this for a potluck and I didn't have any leftovers. Will definitely make this again. Thanks!

Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
These are just like Reese's PB cups! I made mine heart-shaped and dipped them in almond bark. I suppose they could be made into any shape you please. We used cookie cutters, but the mixture was just the right consistency that you could mold or model them however you choose. I have silicone molds I think I'll try next time. I also think you could use them for 3-D creations, like a standing snowman or jack-o-lantern. This is definitely a recipe I'll drag out at nearly every holiday. Thanks!

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
I used this method on a 10-pound box of slab bacon I bought. I cooked it all at once (it took 3 hours!) but froze the cooked bacon for later. Some I purposely undercooked so that it would finish in whatever dish I plan to use it in. In addition to that, I ended up with several packages of strips, a package of chunks for recipes, and a package of bits to use with salads. I will probably do this every six months or so. Now I always have bacon ready to use! Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
This was incredible! I left out the tomato sauce and just used a big can of Rotel. It was rather spicy and not very family-friendly, so next time I'll try the recipe as printed or use the mild Rotel. The beer is a must! I used amber bock, since my DH doesn't like it and refuses to drink it. The leftovers freeze well, so you can have some for later!

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
Just like my mom used to make! I halved this recipe and it fed 3 with no leftovers. FYI, I rolled mine rather flat - about 1/8 in. I also made them narrow, not wide, and rather short too. I tried the Swiss roll method, but the pizza cutter was much faster. I allowed them to dry for only 30 min., but I remember my mom drying them for up to 3 hours. I cooked them in salted water with a little EVOO and they were done in about 3-4 minutes. They rose to the top of the boiling water when they were done.

This was very good! My DH, who normally doesn't like roasted chicken, loved this recipe. Definitely a keeper!

Real Hummus

I thought this recipe was too garlicky and lemony. I cut back on those two ingredients and it makes a great veggie dip. Thanks for the recipe - it's so much cheaper to make it than to buy it!

Saltine Toffee Cookies

This was the second time I made these cookies. These were a hit at a potluck! I used Club crackers instead of saltines, but the results were the same - fantastic!

Dill Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
Yummy! I had been buying this from the deli at the supermarket for $2.50 per cup. Tastes the same and so much cheaper. The recipe did make too much for my needs though. 2 cups of each of mayo and sour cream makes a full quart! Halve the recipe if you just need some. I also added more onion and a bit more dill (to finish my jar) and it was heavenly! Thanks so much!

Homemade Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
I left out the sugar since DH is diabetic. A fantastic recipe if you're looking to cut the fat from your diet, even though I initially looked for an Italian sausage recipe because I didn't want to make a stop at the supermarket. It's a keeper!

Mom's Turkey Sausage Patties

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
MMMM-azing and kid-approved! I made the mistake of only making one pound, which my DD ate almost half of! Next time I'll cook up two or more pounds and freeze what we don't use. I like to have ready-to-eat sausage for crazy mornings. Also, I mixed the spices in with the turkey the night before to let the flavors blend. The flavor was all there - just the fat (and a little texture) was missing.

Ham Salad Spread

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
Wow! This was so easy and a lot less expensive than the deli counter at the supermarket. I didn't use all the mayo that the recipe called for. I like my salad a little dry - I used just enough to bind the ingredients together. I served it on sourdough bread and even the kids ate it!
