I'm 22, living on my own again. After striking out on my own at 21 to move in with an ex-boyfriend (who at that point lived off frozen pizza) I'm always looking for new things to try and cook. Now living with a new roommate in a different town I am still constantly learning new recipes and techniques and realizing I can cook. Not as well as others, but more than just frozen pizza, mac and cheese and spaghetti-o's!
My favorite things to cook
Dunchfest. Dinner disguised as brunch. We did it for a couple weekends at my old apartment. Pancakes or french toast, eggs (scrambled), bacon or sausage, and home fries. A fun group cooking event that was hard to screw up and easy to recover from if you did.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't have a lot of cooking traditions. We had minimal group cooking time. It's almost as through sitting in the kitchen just chatting with Gram and Mom is supposed to teach me to cook through osmosis.
My cooking triumphs
Just trying. I'm always so impressed with myself for giving myself something new. It all seems to come easily with a solid set of directions.
