About this Cook
I am still pretty young but have been cooking with my family for longer then I can remember. Still, I didn't really start cooking seriously until about 4 years ago! I swim and play soccer with a team out of Maine and love to draw and sew whenever I have the time!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook dessert for my family whenever I have the chance! Also I'm trying to countinue to have a healthy lifestyle and try to cook as much healthy\whole grain food as possible!
My favorite family cooking traditions
During Christmas our house is usually bursting with sweets of all types. My favorite, that I've been baking first with my mother and now alone since age 3 is our Christmas Butter Cookies. I am still baking them now and carrying on the tradition!
My cooking triumphs
I have been trying for years to bake a jelly roll without it falling apart. Finally last Christmas, I made a perfect jelly roll and it got rave reviews from everyone! Decorating cakes is my next big challenge. Right now I still can't make them look all that fancy, but I'm working up to it!
My cooking tragedies
Once, I tried to bake cookies and forgot to put cooking oil on the pan. When I got them out of the oven I was really upset! My family ended up eating them right out of the pan! At least we all got a good laugh out of it!

Pineapple-Cherry Nut Cake
This recipe, unlike others on the site is really a tasty fruitcake-like treat. What is important in this recipe, though, is that the ingredients differ from a normal fruitcake. While I strongly dislike heavy fruitcake, a light and airy cake like this with some of the delicious fruit from the classic cake is a winner with me! Remember, if you plan to try this recipe, you will need to read the directions carefully. No matter how many fruitcakes you have baked, this cake needs to be treated like its own kind of treat!

Noel Fruitcake
I am not a huge fruitcake fan myself, but a close friend is and I gave this recipe to her. She insisted that I try some of the cake, and she raved abotu the exceptional taste and flavor. To me, the cake tasted the same as all the other fruitcakes I had encountered. I think that if you are really a fruitcake lover and are looking for a wonderful recipe, you've met your match. However, if you really don't like fruitcake, don't expect this recipe to work miracles. This cake is nothing special unless you especially love fruitcake.

English Christmas Cake
Mmmmm, this is a delicious snack cake for the holiday season, but it also makes a great breakfast bread when company is over. However, I didn't choose to give this recipe a five star rating because of one small problem. In my opinion, this cake has an overload of spices. All of my family members commented on this being a rather strong cake. With mixed spice, cinnamon, and lemon zest, this cake is more than spicy. What I would recommend to others trying this recipe is to choose add the suggested amount of cinnamon and lemon zest, and leave out the mixed spice. With two spices, the mixed spice is fairly useless.
