I have always enjoyed cooking!  I will start with that first.  However, I have always enjoyed the occasional day off in the kitchen, but now with a husband who has been out of work since February I find myself cooking on a daily basis and searching for more recipes than ever before.… MORE

Wonderful Cancun Vacation
About this Cook
Married for 2/ years with 4 children ranging from 15 to 25.
My favorite things to cook
Everything I can try, except that I haven't quite mastered the perfect pie crust!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Kolacky at Christmas time and the Thanksgiving Turkey. I also make the best kugelas in our family, I am also the only one who makes them. I also love to cook German and Bohemian food. Sauerbraten and Kraut! YUMO!
My cooking triumphs
Great Holiday dinners are my triumphs. I love to cook for Thanksgiving. That delicious turkey is my favorite meal of the year. Plus I make a perfect gravy! That I have mastered!!!! I also cater great meals. Mostly for our church, I have never done it on a completely professional level, but I am preparing for an upcoming wedding that I am catering as a favor for friends.
My cooking tragedies
The most recent was not giving enough time for the filet roast to thaw for Christmas dinner. When we usually eat at 3, we were not eating until after 6 this year.

After-Thanksgiving Turkey Soup
I am giving this recipe 5 stars simply for the idea alone! I make chicken stock all of the time out of the carcasses from the rotiseirrie chickens that I buy from the store. I made the turkey stock yesterday and today I started the soup with the Cream Soup Base Recipe found on this website. I also added some leftover gravy as opposed to the bouillon granules. I also added garlic granules for some flavor, although my family seem to think it was missing something probably the salt! I don't use a lot of it. I thought it had great flavor just from the stock and the gravy. I also used brown long grain rice, which was great! Thank you for this wonderful idea. I have been discarding turkey carcasses for over 15 years and I am so sorry that I have!

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas
I used my leftover Thanksgiving turkey in this recipe and it was fabulous! The only changes I made were to use corn tortillas and I added extra cheese because my family loves the cheese. I like the less spicy version, but this can easily be kicked up a notch by adding hot sauce or red pepper flakes. Delicious. Thank you for a great recipe for my leftovers!

The Best Garlic Bread
This is wonderful garlic bread as is. However, I used mayo with olive oil for a healthier option, as well as chopped garlic rather than the powder and it was just as good. I make my garlic bread this way all of the time!
