About this Cook
I've lived in Michigan my entire life which means I want to retire to Florida, or at least some place warmer. I recently remarried to a wonderful guy. We now live in Bay City with a retired greyhound and two perfect little kitties. I have two grown sons and two of the most beautiful granddaughters ever. I feel very blessed!
My favorite things to cook
Pie. I love to bake pie. I make a killer crust with a secret ingredient passed down from a great aunt.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ever year at Christmas my family makes a wonderful spice cookie brought over from Germany by my great grandmother. It's not Christmas without them or my mother's black bottom pie (pie again!!!). They make the house smell wonderful and they are awesome with a cup of coffee.
My cooking triumphs
One year I made the most beautiful Easter dinner. The good china, crystal and sliverware came out. Candles were lit and there were fresh flowers on the table. It was magic. Probably the most perfect meal I've ever made.
My cooking tragedies
Shortly after my I was first married, I had invited some friends over for dinner. I made a recipe for pot roast out of a magazine I had that looked really good. I did the recipe exactly as it was written. When we were ready to sit down to dinner, I took it out of the oven and it was burnt to a crisp. My guests were great. They ate it anyway and told me it was really good.

Creamy Eggnog Fudge
All I can say is wow! I substituted rum flavoring for the vanilla. It's creamy and sweet; definitely calls for small pieces. You should continue to stir constantly during cooking to prevent scorching.

Pseudo Sourdough for the Bread Machine
I didn't taste like sourdough bread, but it was still very good; nice texture and taste.

Hot Spiced Cranberry Cider
I cut the recipe in half and put it in my crock pot on high for two hours. I added the lemon slices during the last 30 minutes. I served it to my book club tonight, and it was delicious. Everyone raved about it. I will definitely be making this again.
