About this Cook
What can I say about myself except that I love to cook, entertain, and, especially EAT! I have logged plenty of hours in the gym as a result!
My favorite things to cook
I try to eat as healthy as I can, but I have an enormous sweet tooth. I love to bake...cookies, cakes, pastries - you name it, I'll at least make an attempt! I also love cooking with fresh herbs and vegetables. Every year I wait with anticipation for the summertime farmers markets to open!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking tradition is that we have none! Growing up, we never had the same meal twice. Of course, we have our "perfect" recipes that will show up every so often, but Holidays in our home never consisted of the same old boring green bean casserole and ham. There was always an exciting twist on the menu that was new or different every year! I've carried on that tradition in my own home and now the only thing that's expected on my table, is change!
My cooking triumphs
My greatest cooking triumph was a my very first turkey. I lovingly bathed it in a delicious brine for 24 hours and cooked it to juicy perfection in my electric roaster. My family still talks about that turkey.
My cooking tragedies
I made a Butter Pecan Rum Ice Cream cake that would have turned out delicious...except that I put too much rum in the ice cream and it didn't freeze! I left it over night only to find it completely melted at the bottom of my freezer the next morning. I was so disappointed. The drippings tasted delicious, though. If I figure out how to perfect this, I'll make sure I post it!

Grandma's Famous Salmon Cakes
These turned out really well. The only change I made was to coat them in plain bread crumbs with a bit of old bay mixed in, and used olive oil instead of vegetable oil. Good stuff!

Cookies 'n' Creme Fudge
Great recipe! I've made the sweetened condensed milk version of fudge before, but never with white chocolate and this turned out well. Good advice about chopping your cookies individually. This one is going on my holiday cookie list.

Caramel Frosting IV
This is THE tastiest frosting of all time. Anything I frost this with gets rave reviews. My favorite use for this frosting is on pumpkin cookies. When I use it as a frosting for cookies I replace the milk with water and it works just as well and sets up nicely.
