My cooking tragedies
We had another couple over for dinner one eveing. I had prepared a fresh peach cobbler for dessert. I had baked it earlier in a pyrex dish that afternoon and had left it sitting on the back of the stove. As I prepared to finish dinner, while also talking and having probably to many glasses of wine, I turned on the burner I thought was the pasta water. While I was waiting on the water to boil, we heard this cracking noise, we all looked at each other, all thinking "what is that noise?" and then it EXPLODED peach cobbler all over the place. I had turned on the wrong burner. Then the smoke came, and then smoke detectors which in turn set off the house alarm. Next, of course the alarm company is calling asking if they need to call the fire department? The house was full of smoke. It was a huge mess. It took me two days to get it all cleaned off my stove. I was still finding pieces of glass weeks later. That pyrex dish broke into a thousand pieces. And I had an audience!
