About this Cook
I live with an avid hunter and fisher. I hate venison and fish. I cook alot of venison and fish too. I love to cook for family and friends. I do alot of cooking on the weekends to not have to cook during the more hectic weekdays.
My favorite things to cook
The Spaghetti and Meatballs discovered on this web-site. My family has a Cucumber and Tomato Salad that my mother made and her mother made before that (over 70 years now in the family). My sister used to make it also. This dish is present at every almost every meal I make and also at every family dinner we have. My in-laws now request it also. My mom, sister and I each made/make it a little different and it's always good. My sister's gone now, so it's a special recipe to me every time I make it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For the last few years it's an annual tradition to have all my husbands family for the first weekend in May and for Thanksgiving at our house. I try to make favorite recipes for family members coming to my house. We also have the annual deer hunting at our house with all my hubby friends. They start showing up on the first Saturday the season opens, They all come and go for the next two weeks. Some come and go more and some just come and stay for days at a time. My hubby loves that time of the year. We are all alot older now. I'm still feeding them 18 years later.
My cooking triumphs
When I married I had not ever cooked one meal ever! Now just having the family say "Can we have (Easter, Thanksgiving, Xmas...) at the farm this year? That's just makes me feel great every time.
My cooking tragedies
Oh, yuck. What a memory! My husband and I married in April and that November was the first annual hunt week at the farm. Back then it was only one week, instead of the two weeks of hunting now. I made my first Pecan Pie. I might have softened (cooked) the butter too long in the microwave. I thought the Pie didn't look right when I took it out of the oven. When we cut the first slice -- horrors-- the eggs were cooked like I'd added cut up hardboiled eggs! The tough hunters ate that pie and never said a word.

Pumpkin Fluff Dip
Sorry - this is a good recipe, but it's just so ugly I can't picture making it again. When you have a bar full of appetizers, pies and cakes, this one just gets passed over because of it's looks.

Easy Cheese Ball II
This is a very good, very easy Cheese Ball to throw together. The tastes blend very nicely. I've made this multiple times now, for family and for work, and everyone likes it alot. Try this - you won't be sorry.

Deer Poppers
These were good, but I would cook the bacon in the microwave for a few minutes first. The bacon was just too undercooked when I made them. I will try this again. The marinade and meat were very good.
